I recently opened my front differential to install a Harrop e locker and found a tooth missing from the ring. I’m currently running 4.30 gears on 35s in a ‘98. I wanted to get opinions on should I regear to 4.88s or wait for a used 4.30 ring to pop up on the internet.

I just did it myself and as a novice, I could say the that the job is relatively easy the hardest part was getting the transfer case back up into the truck.
Thanks for all the great responses I swapped out the belt tensioner yesterday and it totally fixed the problem. The old tensioner was toast I guess after 380,000 miles they just give up 😂
There is very little play in the tensioner the idler pulley is brand new and feels solid. I haven't tried with the ac on or off but definitely going to give that a try. Do you think running the engine until it warms up will damage the belt?
I had some time to check today. Everything spins smoothly there's no stiffness in any of the pulleys. The alternator pulley had some resistance but I think that's normal.
After a fan bracket seized upon me it burned my serpentine belt off. I replaced my serpentine belt, fan bracket and idler pulley and upon startup, there is a terrible squeal and chirp. Any ideas? Belt tensioner maybe?
Yes I've recently extended the breathers using Finally extended my breathers this forum with a fuel filter and open tube at the end. Ive looked through the forum and havent found much on replacing the seals.
I was working on my rear parking brake shoes and I found that the drivers side axle had some oil around it and the parking brake shoes and compponents had dark oil/grease on them. I am wondering if this could be the rear axle seals or something else. Any suggestions?
