@2001LC do you have a link where you purchased these bushings? I just called CVJ and they are no longer selling just the bushings. They recommended Ployurethane, but I'd like to stick to the rubber if I can source them. Checked ebay but didn't see them either. Appreciate any help.
Edit: I...
Attempted to removed the heat shields today to try and patch the manifolds and the bolts holding them on were completely rusted and the heads just rounded off. Looks like I won't be able to try and patch.
Does anyone have know if the heat shields come off with the manifolds? My next step is...
@perryazevedo been a little while since I did this so I went back to my videos. I actually was unable to get a wrench on there and turn the accumulator bolts. What I did was removed the bottom bolts and then used a pry to bend the accumulator up. That gave me enough access to get a...
Good to know the correct terminology. Most folks on here call them accumulators. I used a ratcheting wrench on the accumulator bracket bolts that are on top of the frame. You’ll get 1/16 of a turn so it just takes a while. I also cut the hydraulic lines with a reciprocating saw and bent them...
@Haulinvols The key driver on price is parts. The pump assembly can from $700ish (rebuilt) to $1650 (brand new from dealer). If you can provide your own parts to this shop you could get yourself a better deal. I want to say the job is around 5-6 hours of labor to replace pump and bleed the...
@gatormark91 is on it. You're dancing around the mileage where the pump fails. Especially if the truck has seen city mileage/stop and go traffic. The more you stop the more frequent that pump works in relation to mileage. Sounds like you are not in a pinch yet, but I do recommend finding a...
Awesome, thanks for the info! Definitely more 100s in my future, so i'll just plan to deal with this as it comes.
Glad you were prepared for the failure and stayed safe.
@erkelbot did you ever mess with your manifolds? I've got bad gas mileage combined with exhaust smell in the cab, so I'm thinking this is the issue. Would like to do a cheap fix if possible as I'm sitting at 330k miles.
@Drogon did you ever figure out where this smell came from? I have the same burning plastic smell going on with my LX and cannot for the life of me figure it out. No evidence of grease leaking. Valve covers were replaced recently with no leaks currently. No evidence of anything...
Damn right! Felt good to break those things off after trying the wrench for about an hour. A couple beers later and the pry bar/persuader usually makes an appearance.
Mud,
I recently removed the accumulators on my '99 LX to make room for Metal Tech Land Cruiser Sliders. The top bolts on the accumulator assemblies were damn near impossible to get to and even when I got the wrench on I may have gotten 1/16 of a turn on the bolt head. I ended up removing the...
Want to share this information for future users. I was able to skip removal of the top bolts by using a pry bar. This allowed me to quickly remove the Accumulator assemblies. I made a video on how I did it. Since they were trash anyway, might as well destroy them!
@Mike NXP good call, i will take a look this evening. Appreciate the info.
@ewineryd can't rule anything out so I appreciate this as well. Since grease is an easy check I'll start there then move to the AC system.
Thanks all, will report back what I find.
@trdcorolla Really appreciate you mentioning this. Makes perfect sense that it could be grease related given the symptoms. I do have an inner CV boot that's leaking...maybe that's it.
When you say Zerks, are you talking about the ones that lube the axle slip yokes? I haven't greased those...
Hey all, hoping I can get some guidance for a smell coming from my LX. ‘99, about 330k miles.
About 45-60 minutes into a long drive with AC and recirculate on I get a strong burning smell coming out of the vents. At first I thought it was a burning rubber type smell but after a few months it...
Been a couple years since I did mine but I remember it coming out pretty easily. Truck had 300k miles with OEM compressor.
This thread was a big help. Has pictures of all the bolts:

Want to thank everyone again for the quick help. With the diagram from @planomateo and following the current described in the door locking functionality, I was able to narrow my issue to the circuit on the D/L (U) Relay which activates the unlocking of all passenger doors and hatch (this is the...
@rfenio did you end up removing the junction box? How did it go? Any tips for removing it?
I'm having door locking issues. I've traced the issue to one of the circuits that incorporates a Door Lock Relay (Specifically the D/L (U) Relay on the diagram). I've had plugged sunroof drains before...
