building manifolds what steels work? what dont?

John, you can get mild steel parts (elbows and T's) from most any of the steel fab shops around town or actually from Metal Suppermarket in Langley, 200th and 92A I bet. Pretty inexpensive. I made mine (when I owned my truck, Kim bought it on Friday) from 1.5" Sch 40 short radius elbows on the...

    EDIC problems

Could be your fuel control relay. My edic wasn't working a couple weeks ago, had a friend with a spare help me diagnose the problem. We put in the spare edic, didn't do anything. We changed the fuel control relay (passenger side, behind wheel well cover plate and everything worked fine, my...

    This 3B-T Hauls!

Help me out if you don't mind. Why would changing the fuel setting only affect the maximum temperatures? So I turn my fuel down say 3 full turns, almost to the point of starving my engine. Less fuel in the mix wouldn't affect the overall EGT? Or the opposite situation, I turn my fuel up so...

    This 3B-T Hauls!

Can't say that I agree with Dougal. If one's fuel isn't turned up why wouldn't the EGT range be lower....? I run on the flat between 800-900*F pre-turbo at 110km/hr all day long. So based on this, my prob must be broken too? If I adjust my fuel higher, my EGT's will rise but why do that when...

    This 3B-T Hauls!

I don't think his pyro is broken, he may not have the fuel turned up as much as others do. Turn up the fuel, the EGT's are going to go up... turn it down.....well you now.

    This 3B-T Hauls!

Hey John, all's sounding good!!! You can lower your EGT's by actually increasing boost but leaving the fuel setting as is. Try giving yourself 12+/- psi. It's actually amazing how much more performance you'll get when you're boosting over 10 psi. Mine is set to 14psi and climbing local...

    Water/Fuel separator frozen....?

OK, so I took a look over my glow system. It's direct glow from battery to button to plugs. I took the button out of the dash and noticed that I had to push it in just a but further than when the rubber cover was on it, in the dash. Needless to say, I'm embarrased to think that I've had a...

    Water/Fuel separator frozen....?

I totally think you're right Kim. I've been doing some reading on wilson switches and I think something is not right with mine. I had a buddy wire it up and he knows what he's doing but maybe we got something wrong.....I don't know if it was hooked up to any of the relay's or solenoids, so...

    Water/Fuel separator frozen....?

Thanks guys for all the help and suggestions. Greg, I don't think it's the fuel filter otherwise I doubt it would have thawed out by 11:45....but maybe? I changed the fuel filter in summer, I have less than 5000 km since then. Rob, yes, supper glow is gone. I glow for a good 30 seconds...

    Water/Fuel separator frozen....?

I have a wilson switch and have good glow. Air in the system wouldn't cause no starting in the morning then start 4 hours later with no issues would it? Maybe there is water in my system but I have no idea how to check it or get rid of it. I've always had tough starts in the mornings with lots...

    Water/Fuel separator frozen....?

No, I agree but it is certainly cold enough to freeze water which might be in the separator?

    Water/Fuel separator frozen....?

So I went to start my truck this morning (82 BJ60 3B engine). It was about -4*c overnight so not too cold. I couldn't get the truck to start. It turned over just fine and I ran it just 3 days before. So, I wondered if it could be water in the separator frozen, stopping fuel from getting...

    High EGT 3B turbo

You need to know how much boost you're running. You can lower your EGT's by turning up your boost but don't touch your fuel. You're set up seems totally fine. I run 2" pipe between my turbo and intake with no EGT issues. The 7cm housing on the exhaust side may be a bit on the large side...

Thanks guys. It's getting rebuilt at EBI on Monday. If I had the tome I might have done it with Baxter's help but I don't really have that luxury.
