    Glow plug relay problem?

I have a 24V - 1981 BJ42 with a 3B(-T) from a 1983 BJ60. It has been working well until recently. I found my glow system is acting up. I get good glow and quick startup all the time. Recently, the truck began leaving the glow plugs powered all the time (switch off, truck running, etc)...

Randy is installing a similar setup. Is yours with the mechanical fan or as a replacement? Mine is as a replacement.

    FJ80 w/6.2L Diesel, getting a turbo

I think it would have all fit if the engine was 2-3 in. further back. I think the person who did the work did not want to move the transmission, so he started from there, when he should have moved the engine/tranny back 3"ish. We have problems with fan clearance as well which would be resolved...

    FJ80 w/6.2L Diesel, getting a turbo

The banks kit uses the same exhaust manifold, so it needs the same spacer or injectors changed out for 6.5l injectors due to their size. As for the turbo down pipe, i am not sure...

    94 FZJ80 6.2 conversion begins!

RPM gauge Randy, can you post where you got the RPM gauge and a pic of it mounted? I tried to get the stock one working, but could not, so now I am thinking I need a small tach to put at the bottom of the pillar. Thanks.

    FJ80 w/6.2L Diesel, getting a turbo

That is what it is doin'. I dont know that it saves anything in the way of MPG... I do want to get back to a FJ62 style xfer case, so I can have 2WD that really only turns the back drive shaft. Not a high priority though. Cheers.

    FJ80 w/6.2L Diesel, getting a turbo

I talked to Randy and he explained he is working on it. He has the old accessories off and is preping the new accessory brackets, etc. He has tested and rebuilt the turbo in preparation. He will get some pics up this weekend hopefully. Cheers.

    FJ80 w/6.2L Diesel, getting a turbo

I get that you are worried about the 6.2 and a turbo... I am also. From my research (I talked to Banks and reading posts on MaximumDiesel.com for the Duramax 6600 (6.6L) GM Chevrolet and GMC diesel engines., talking to detroit diesel specialists), I found this is possible and common. There...

    94 FZJ80 6.2 conversion begins!

I started a thread on my truck. Here is the link: https://forum.ih8mud.com/diesel-tech-24-volts-systems/216143-fj80-w-6-2l-diesel-getting-turbo.html The cruise was working (once for me), so I hope it can be fixed. The AC was not working, but is all hooked up. I think it leaked out and since...

    FJ80 w/6.2L Diesel, getting a turbo

Since I do not have a tach, I am not positive on the shift points, but they seem pretty good. redline on a 3FE is 4k? and the 6.2L is 3600, so they should be close. I used to have an FJ62, so familiar with adjusting the kickdown... On the temp, seems ok, but unfortunately, the previous...

    FJ80 w/6.2L Diesel, getting a turbo

I have just started my turbo upgrade on Dragonazul, my wife's Diesel FJ80. It has a Chevy 6.2L Diesel and uses the stock A440 transmission. I am using the 6.5L Diesel turbo, intake and exhaust manifolds. The goal is to have about 10PSI of boost. Also purchased all the parts to do a...

    94 FZJ80 6.2 conversion begins!

I purchased replacement accessories with brackets since I wanted it to work right the 1st time. The crank pulley and water pump have to be replaced. The rest, if you find replacement pulleys, you might be able to keep, but you will need the tensioner, so somewhere you will need a new bracket...

    94 FZJ80 6.2 conversion begins!

The FJ80 w/6.2L diesel is mine. i got it about 1 month ago from someone in South Texas. The 80 is in great shape, but the belt system sucks. So I talked to "The Diesel Depot" and Randy and got all the parts for a Serpentine conversion and the turbo install. Randy is working on getting it...
