Started feeling a slight vibration when changing gears.
After about 10-20 minutes I was driving in 5th and things seemed to go haywire (clutch slip I think?) and an extremely loud knock started causing me to pull over and turn off engine.
Knock is in time with RPMs
Initial look under hood...
Bumping this thread because I'm left wondering if there are two different power steering pump brackets that fit on a 3B... or something else? I guess you can't see from the pictures I posted, but the pump sits so that the pump pulley is about a belt's width too far forward relative to the idler...
Hey all. I've been lucky enough to acquire a 3b PS setup, but things aren't all lining up so I have a few questions you guys might know the answers to.
First - I read that there's a 2-bolt and a 6-bolt crank pulley. Mine is 2-bolt and I read it's possible to just have a machine shop add some...
Hah I did this once! It was about 7 years ago... I basically just kept driving and changed the oil after. 3B was still going when I replaced it last week with a beautiful rebuild thanks to Gerg.
I think you will have better luck emailing Exedy technical direct. Tali was great but did not know what the kit was even for as it did not have much of a description in their system.
I don't think they are the same kits. I think the one I ended up with was somewhat lighter than the original...
Update on this: success!
I went back and forth with Exedy technical, trying to convince them that their listing was incorrect everywhere. From the Toyota part # the Exedy tech guys gave me the part number for this other kit, p/n KTY07.
I googled the kit and it showed up almost no results, but...
It got solid chunks of steel in it after I let the wrong guys do some welding on the manifold attachment... (yeah, not great judgement past self). So the fins were shredded and the whole thing spins, as I recall, as if it's on an eliptical orbit... with kind of a "clunk clunk clunk" feeling...
Hey Dougal, yep still alive, university has sadly kept me away from landcruisers and Mud these last few years it seems. I have a practicum project in Guatemala coming up, so I've found a way to make those things more compatible I guess ;) The cruiser has been mostly sitting, but now the...
Yep, thanks Samwise I've read over many of them a few times, which is how I came to be looking at this turbo. Thanks to that info I have an idea what numbers to look for, but not being an engineer or turbo expert myself, I thought I would check up as Integras are not one of the sources I've seen...
Yeah it used to have one actually, until this little incident I had in Guyana... and since I'm about to drive to Guatemala, if I can possibly put one on again I will. Once is enough when it comes to driving a NA diesel 60 across a continent with no muffler :hillbilly:
Hey I'm just looking at a replacement turbo for my 3b.
I found one on Craigslist from an acura integra. Garrett M24 compressor AR .42. He says he's trying to find the trim thinks it might be around 40 (I'm a bit lost on trim numbers)
Trying to get the turbine AR from the guy, but a quick...
I'm actually kinda surprised I didn't come up with posts about this already? So far at least 3 of my top google searches for BJ60 clutch kits have come up with major dealers selling this kit exclusively for the BJ60, including Rockauto...
At least I don't feel like TOO much of an idiot, since...
5 speed, complete kit.
That's funny 16006 shows up a kit for me
Yeah I asked around about that in Victoria a bit and a few clutch/tranny shops laughed at me and said maybe 20 years ago haha
