Almost normal for the 3b.
Are you
Pretty much normal for a 3b.
Do you just do leisure driving? As in town and mostly trail running?
I learned that the 3b needs a regular highway run to get it hit and burn off carbon that causes ring sticking and drives up oil consumption/smoke.
If the oil pressure sensing wire for the EDIC is disconnected then the EDIC will not shut down the engine if the oil pressure fails. It will shut the engine down if it is grounded, when oil pressure builds it becomes an open circuit. If oil pressure does not build it remains grounded and shuts...
Could the hissing sound be electrical? You need to get someone to listen and look to try and pinpoint.
I ,first, would try and figure out why the EDIC is shutting off the engine. I assume it has an EDIC? Does the key shut off the engine or is there a lever you pull?
Like I said the EDIC is...
Quits after approx 4 seconds means edic is shutting off fuel because of low oil pressure. Safety to stop the engine from destroying itself.
White smoke means unburned diesel fuel. Does the glow light/coil glow when you push the glow button?
Not sure what the deflating pool toy sound is?
Concerning the upside down filter. Yes you can pre fill before starting. I should say add oil. I half fill mine and let it sit for 5-10 minutes and this actually soaks into the dry filer material. I then put a funnel in the new oil jug and pour out the oil that has not soaked in. There usually...
I agree with you! Maybe it was something to do with the regulator:meh: .?
Anyways I did what I was told and it charged:clap: So I was happy.

Rudi, I have the IGN, L and S terminal.
I wired it up like the last diagram you posted, 12 volt type. That was the exact diagram I used to wire it. I installed a fuse inline to the charge lamp relay from the ignition relay. The original charge fuse is utilized as shown in the diagram.
It was...
You may need to install the "charge lamp relay" and a charge lamp.
That was what I did anyways, the alt would only work for me that way. Now I did not try what BJ40green suggested. He is pretty smart on the wiring aspect of things!
I like the idea of the charge lamp, as it tells you instantly...
I parted out a couple of bj60's over the years and I always pull the harnesses so I have wires and connectors. One of the most useful items to keep, IMOP, when you part something out.
Cheers
I did exactly what you are asking.
I converted my 74 fj40 to a bj40 and 12 volts. But I used a bj60 edic and merged it with the bj40 harness. But I kept tha bj40 glow control. The 24 volt glow relay works just fine with 12 volts.
So to sum it up, it has a fj40 chassis harness and bj40/bj60...
Yes it has been discussed numerous times. But there has never been an definitive answer.
I am looking at one of these

For the mileage the deposits, except for the last one are quite minimal. For the amount of work it is to remove the head I would suggest dropping it off at a shop and get it hot tanked, valves and seats recut and lapped. They will check the head for flatness at the same time.
Get new precups...
