Hi Forum,
If I understand it correctly the 1HZ is a more common engine globally than the 1HDT, so does that mean it's very easy to get parts for it here in the USA?
Are 1HDT parts harder to come by?? and more expensive?
thanks
Ok found it: Mint FJ40 Toyota 1UZFE Lexus V8 walk around and take off

Ok, guys... thanks for the enlightenment! I did find a video, someone put in a newer toyota diesel engine with automatic transmission. V8. Can't remember which engine model.
Noob question. Why is a short rear drive shaft bad? I mean, if it's still turning the rear wheels, it's working, no??
Keep in mind, this vehicle would be a street daily driver, with very very light infrequent offroading.
thanks
So I've got a BJ42, that I'd like to drop a 1-HDT into w/ automatic transmission.
I didn't think an automatic transmission could fit, yet after seeing this shop in Japan do it... I'd like to find a competent shop here in the US that could do this swap for me.
Here's the video in case you want...
Ok here's the breakdown, using thread check list: Huge thanks to Mace!!!

Hey Rayjon
Thanks for the perspective. Yeah, I hear you... paint job and detailing aren't top priorities. Mace is going to inspect the rig for me soon, so hopefully he'll have some info on the actual condition. I am hoping to keep this next LC for a long time. I've got a BJ42 Turbo 3B, 5...
This is so good. Exactly the kind of advice and information I (or anyone else) would need to be armed with to make a smart buy.
Ok, keep tips coming!!
Rayjon, yes 20+ years old, and I'm thinking I'd want to keep this HJ61 around for many years as a daily driver. Do you feel the HJ61's engine...
All good answers and advice. Local IH8MUD moderator is going to take a look for me...
Putting aside the high asking price, I believe the seller imported this rig in strictly for flipping. Very minimal inspection/testing has been performed. What would you look at or inspect to insure the engine...
Hey guys,
I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on this via ebay.
A few pics, a short video of the engine and a little bit more info via PMs... but not much more info given

Would you buy this for 18k based on the ebay...
Hey guys,
I know MPG is always a tricky thing to get accurate... but do you think an HJ61 with factory automatic transmission will get 30mpg highway, 25mpg city?
I'm thinking this is too optimistic, yes?
The automatic transmission will eat up more power/fuel, yes?
Thoughts??
thanks
Ah, good to know, I'll do a search on this. Couldn't locate in manual or in 3b build searches. Mine seems to be chugging out lots of exhaust, I'll have to see if this is normal
By the way, your rig is looking great, we have the same kind

Question on a part: your rebuild picture

There's a grey bent metal pipe that is behind the blue silicon tube.
Can you tell me what that is?
Looks like it's connected to the plate near the push rods
Thanks
Ok, I'll patch the hole, haven't used the heating or vent system yet...
Otherwise I could put the plutonium in there to hit the 1.21 gigawatts needed to get the BJ42 back to 1983's original shape
I used a RI, but what a mistake.
If I ever do this again, I'll do everything myself
Stay well away from this RI
