Anyone know the torque specs for the actual body of the injectors? I took them apart and cleaned them up and I’m seeing some good info on the 2H, but not much on the H. Thanks!
Well, I installed a new battery/ground and checked the block/chassis - nothing. Took apart the ignition and it’s fine as well. Any ideas? Anyone have an issue similar?
1980 HJ45 with a new battery. Cleaned the terminals and installed and cranked it a few times (no start, but that’s a different issue). Walked away for 10 mins and came back and no power period. No lights, no click, nothing - it’s like there’s no battery in there when I turn the key.
checked the...
Thanks Rosco. In all my years of working with truckers letting their Detroit’s and Caterpillars fast-idle for long periods, I never knew that idling would be an issue for the 2H.
I’ll just run it good and see if it’s clears up.
1988 HJ75 (2H with 175k miles) - I rarely drive it anymore since I need to fix a leaky power steering box. The last time it’s had significant road-time was in late September. I have always made it a point to start it every two week and let it idle a good while. So, now that I took it out to run...
@beno you act like you’ve done ATL before :) ...we’re trying to get out too. Maybe soon.
This thing runs cool. I never lug it and work it pretty good, but it never lets me down. It’s actually pretty fun to drive - the 100 is as well, but it’s more of a carefree, confidence kind of thing.
They’re both awesome to drive for different reasons. The 100 series feels like total unbridled luxury - and all the while it’s still very capable off the pavement.
The hilux is solid front axle and much more primal (not kidney shaking, but close) and just more analog to drive. The RHD is not a...
Yeah, I did the numbers as well. For me, it’s emotional (although the fuel numbers are a factor), but I’m trying to get pushed over edge one way or another.
I’m falling into the Hilux camp. I’ll throw a timing belt on it to feel better.
I throw all kinds of crap in the bed, but no, my trade doesn’t require it. It’s solid front axle.
Yes, you’re right. Neither is ideal but it’s hard looking at the fuel bill every month with the 100. I’m just paranoid about cracking a head on the 3L.
I have a couple of trucks that I could daily and will be putting one up on the auction block since I don’t need both. I figured I’d get an opinion here as round trip is about 50 miles to and from work.
1. 1990 Hilux with a 3L - runs fine and drives good as it could I suppose. Unique factor...
My '88 HJ75 12V alternator(s) have been giving me issues. I searched but couldn't find the exact problem so apologies if im droning.
It started with the original OEM one - the charge/filter lights would click and pulse with idle speed and dissapear with higher RPM. I'm no electrical guy, but...
I feel like the 85 will bring in some decent cash as it really is in good shape. Nothing wrong other than the AC. After driving the 3L, there seems (maybe rose colored glasses) like not a signigficant difference in power. No leaks or over pressurizing or anything to note. Just a 1:1 comparison...
Great feedback. Thank you. It's not going to be a DD and honestly I don't much attachment to either one, but I just want to make the best decision with the least headache. I'm leaning hilux now as I'm feeling a bit more at ease with the 3L. Plan ahead for parts and have a cool truck. I'd love to...
