    EDIC problems

But, is the OI doing something different than the gas pedal?

    EDIC problems

Does anyone know if holding the "gas" pedal does the same thing as the overfuel position???

    EDIC problems

Yeah it has one of those, I also hold the pedal down halfway to start, but figured the "overfuel" function was something different....is it just doing the same thing??

    EDIC problems

I'm thinking about engineering two cables, so that one is the shut off and the other is the overfuel for cold starts. Has anyone done that? A solid bar coming through the firewall would be ideal, but the heater is in the way on the cabin side of the firewall. A lever that would allow a bar to...

Crank, no start - after repairing starter

I found the issue. When I put in the starter, the round wire harness got jammed between the starter and the frame (statistically impossible) ... likely causing one of the wires from the edic side of the harness to get pulled just enough to cause a bad connection....hence the wire wiggle getting...

Crank, no start - after repairing starter

Awesome. Thanks for the help... really appreciate it. I'll check it out this afternoon 😁

Crank, no start - after repairing starter

So, I got it fired...:). The EDIC thing was the issue. I wiggled it around for a while, then had my assistant try to start it, and it started! BUT....now it is pulsing. The EDIC thing is moving back and forth as though it can't decide to run or stop??? Any ideas on that. I also wiggled...

Crank, no start - after repairing starter

Cool, I'll give it a shot as soon as my assistant gets back. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks!

Crank, no start - after repairing starter

I'll look for this EDIC thing. Any idea which way is run, and which way is stop?

Crank, no start - after repairing starter

I just checked with a test light...it lit up. So, these 2H motors require glow plugs even when it is summer time?....seems weird. My unimog doesn't even have glow plugs, and my International 530 didn't have them either, neither did a couple Kenworths, Volvos, and Macks I've driven. They...

Crank, no start - after repairing starter

I'm not sure what the "edic" is? The glow pugs are getting juice - so that eliminates the glow plug theory. Here's a question---Does the ignition wire on the starter have any function other than telling the starter to turn? Is there some type of thing (wire, sensor) that would tell the fuel...

Crank, no start - after repairing starter

I prefilled it and primed it - but that was after the initial problem.

Crank, no start - after repairing starter

I'll take a look. I just changed the fuel filter - since I needed to do it anyway....so now I'll bleed the system. This kind of stuff drives me nuts.

Crank, no start - after repairing starter

Hmmmm.....this is weird. I'll look around to see if I find anything resembling that. It seems weird that fixing a starter would mess with anything, but years ago, on an 86 bronco I had, I changed a fuel filter for the heck of it....and truck was down for 6 weeks. Turned out to be completely...

Crank, no start - after repairing starter

So...I replaced the solenoid contacts on my starter. It now cranks great, every time. One problem though.....it now does not fire???!!! It's a 1984 HJ60 with a 2H motor. Mechanical injection, so how the hell can it not fire? I didn't touch the fuel system. It cranks better than ever now...

    2H starter solenoid contacts

How do I know which starter solenoid contacts to order. I have the 10 mm holes, and the basic shape, because I have the old one out - but there seems to be several different options...??? These seem to be for different starter outputs. Is there a "correct" one? My current contacts are...

    2H front heater hose fix

That's great news. I can just use the straight ones to come out of the head and use bent hoses or elbows to get things routed.

    2H front heater hose fix

Awesome, thanks. Does anyone know if those tower looking things that come off the head are one way valves or just basically elbows?

    2H front heater hose fix

That is fantastic photography! Thanks a ton. So, basically....it looks like the hose coming from the heater core comes through the firewall, into the bottom of the valve....then hose comes out of the other side of the valve and goes into that tower that goes into the head. It's 12 below zero...

    Heater hose routing and parts

Does anyone have any decent photos or can anyone take some and put them up? I have the diagrams now, but since these trucks were never imported to the US, I can't go over to a buddy's house and look at his, or go to the dump and look at a totaled one - so it's really difficult to figure out...
