Yes, I have the timing tool for the injection pump timing.
The timing belt and timing gears aren't too bad, just follow the FSM and remember that everything is set at Bottom Dead Center, there are timing marks on all the gears too. After I do the belt, I always rotate the crank by hand to to...
It couldn’t hold up to the turned up boost and fueling, even with the CT26 limited to 15psi. In 4th gear, I could blow the stock clutch away and it was starting to slip in 3rd also
Well, I can verify that there was NO WAY simply tipping the engine downwards in the rear would work. I tried it. The bellhousing is much too large to clear the floorpan. I was able to separate the transmission about 2” from the engine and that was it. No way to actually separate the transmission...
Well, it might be. Getting the whole engine undone and loose was bad but it would have been even worse to actually pull the whole engine. BUT, if it was out, it'd definitely be easier to stab the transmission onto the back of it
Short update: the OEM clutch lasted about 65k and it was really starting to go.
Went with the Trail Tamer which is supposed to have 25% more clamping force.
What I didn’t know is that a clutch swap is a HUGE undertaking in a converted truck. Due to the floor pan, I was unable to separate and...
Might be hard to tell but the truck came up 2.25” with OME heavy springs and 30mm spacers. The old springs with over 300k were TIRED. Especially with the bumpers, sliders, winch and swing out
Christmas came early, new OME springs and Ironman 30mm coil spacers
Front installed
Replaced all the sway bar bushings also
Tomorrow’s project: Slee brake lines
Yeah, all that water bypass piping was fairly inexpensive, essentially cheap insurance. Between external corrosion and the coolant passages being pretty gross I didn't want to risk it. I don't know what the FT did in the UK before I got it but it was definitely getting some nice salt air...
Yeah, I'm currently rebuilding the calipers. I figure that me doing it with OEM parts is better than anything I can get remanufactured at a chain store.
On the build, I actually didn't change the head gasket although I do have a gasket on hand just in case. I swapped out all the head bolts...
Rear brakes. I’ve never touched them, no clue about how many miles are on them. A lot I suspect
All new parking brake bits
EBC rotors
Old crusty calipers
