Good news on my side. Installed charged batteries and the Cruiser fired up no problems. In the end the batteries were holding a little over 25 volts on the charger.
Thanks! I'll follow up with my result and hopefully someone else can learn from these issues.
Currently batteries are showing about 26 Volts on the charger and haven't increased in a few hours.
This is a timely thread as I'm having almost the exact same issue with my BJ73. Here's my post in the 70-Series Section below.
I'm getting my batteries off the charger this morning and hopefully re-install them tonight and see what happens. The curve ball for me is I'm working with 24V.

Where do you live? If it is in CA you are going to have a much harder time (not impossible, but difficult) acquiring a diesel Cruiser.
If you have the $$$ for a conversion call Proffitt's Cruisers to discuss an engine conversion.
If you do search on this forum you will find months of...
Before you get too far into this, you may want to consider the fact that you are in California and "legal" diesel engines options are few and far between. Anyone with first hand experience correct me if I'm wrong but here goes... IN CA:
1) The engine you put in has to be from the same year...
I just received an email from Luke@4x4labs today, but it was not in regards to the diesel conversion kit. I'm sure he is swamped with all the interest in this conversion.
Good to know!
My opinion for the original poster is to register out of state, I think that's the easiest way to get around all this, unless you are willing to do the swap as mentioned.
I did read on a LR forum that the 2.8 powerstroke is an "upgraded" version of the 300Tdi. Don't know what that means exactly, but the Rover guys apparently like this motor and a lot of them are swapping to it.
That could change everything for me as well. However, would any of these diesels have problems passing the test on bio? I have no experience with this.
Could you point me to the regs? Do you have a .pdf file? I have done lots of searching on the website and cannot find exactly what I need. I will be moving back to San Diego this year and I want to read up on this stuff. TIA. Sorry for your loss!!!
