In case anyone else is searching for an answer to specialty tools. The only one I absolutely needed was the tool for the harmonic balancer. I purchased the one linked above on Amazon. One issue I had with it was the bolts that came with it were incorrect thread. I purchased correct bolts at...
Apologies if this has been discussed before. Can’t find the answer I’m looking for.
Can the special tools listed in the service manual for timing belt change be substituted by tool rentals at an auto parts store? Or are they so specialized that they must be factory tools?
Thanks for any...
To be fair, I do not wheel mine hardcore. So if someone is, their experience could be different. It’s very solid. But that metal will only last so long when beaten on.
I have the JW offroad mount and no regrets. As solid as day one.
I do wish @ExpeditionOne would build a rear bumper with the swing out that attaches to door like the FJ. I’d be in line for one if they did.
Call or email Expedition One and ask them about their GX470 rear bumper. They said earlier this year they were working on one with the same opening design as the FJ which I have and love. I don’t care for swing outs that I have to first unlatch and open before getting to the rear door. But...
Doesn’t look too bad to me but then I am not an audiophile.
When you say trash, do you mean the functionality is trash? Or just that the resolution isn’t what you want? Or something else?
Curious how you are wiring the E locker? Friend of mine did similar swap and is having a difficult time. He stated that the vehicle speed sensors and computer are all involved in operating the e-locker and the GX doesn’t have what is needed. If you have a solution, please share? Thanks!
I’ve got the JW. No complaints other than the need to have the striker plate. I’d prefer a swing out expedition one bumper if they ever come out with one. But I also don’t want to add a lot of weight. The JW has done its job well. Taken it on several trails including Imogene. For the price...
It is crazy what is happening with prices. Good time to sell. Bad time to buy. But then again, it may get even worse so maybe it IS a good time to buy.
For what it’s worth, I paid just under 13k at a dealer for 2008 with 164k miles. That was in March 2020. I felt it was a bit high but I...
Another option if you want made in the USA by a company with racing experience is Arizona Desert Racing shocks. I have their stuff on my GX and love it. Rebuildable. Rides like butter. I used Camburg ball joint UCA. Stock replacement LCA. Front and rear are both remote reservoir.
I would get an estimate from body shops to see what exactly needs to be repaired. Then make the decision on what to do. If frame isn’t good, have a new door installed and painted to match, then do an aftermarket bumper that you like.
glad you guys are OK
Thanks! I did see that rust area and I was thinking maybe a stainless plate there would do the trick. I have one ordered from JWO and am looking forward to getting it. 😁
