It was nice meeting you Mike. I hope you enjoy the truck! I've really enjoyed the truck but now can focus on my 95 FZJ80 that I bought last year. The group of guys here in the forum are very helpful if you need anything. Thanks Pappy for all of your help.
It is really amazing to me what these mini trucks sell for. I went to last years auction and there was an 86 4runner and pickup that sold in the mid 20s I believe. I agree to get that much money I would want it 100 percent stock original. There was an 86 pickup with 44k miles carbed that sold...
OK. That was you :). We were heading back to Vegas Wednesday from Albuquerque and I think I saw you around Gallup and it may have been later. The runner I saw looked just like yours.
Shoot. I wish I could be more help to you. Is it backfiring through the intake or exhaust? So it starts and runs fine until it gets warm? My truck has similar issues with wet black soot out of the exhaust and intermittent hard starting when hot. I replaced my injector time switch with a TSB...
I was able to do a repair with a hose I found at oreillys. It had the 90 degree bend that I needed from the tstat side and was able to wrap around the housing like the original and install to the tbody. Just had to trim both sides a little and it worked perfect!
So it appears that my hose is obsolete. 16264-35011 is the hose that I need. I have the early 85 and the difference looks like the fitting at the intake side next to the tstat on my truck is pointing up and the later one is a 90 degree fitting. Wondering if I can swap fittings from a later...
So I noticed that a bypass hose started to leak the other day and I ordered one at my local dealership and got the wrong one. Anyone know what the part number is for this hose? It attaches to the upper intake and goes around the tstat housing and attaches to the lower next to the tstat.
Ok. Thanks for the quick reply Pappy! Ive been searching the internet for a definition of that sensor and really couldn't find anything on it. It's not shown in the 85 FSM that I could see. Not sure if it's in the wiring manual.
Hello everyone,
Yesterday I was tinkering under the hood of my pickup and repaired the connector to the switch on top of the tstat housing. I was doing some research trying to figure out what this sensor is for and found an old thread where KLF mentioned something about a FPU sensor or fuel...
I've noticed that quite a bit out here. I was driving from Vegas down to socal a few weeks ago and saw one early 90s pickup flat towing another one. I figured they were going south of the border. I've actually seen 5 trucks each towing a truck in a convoy when I was in New Mexico a few years ago.
