Circling back. That hose didn't work. It rubbed on the alternator pretty bad. I ended up with the T100 hose. It wasn't a perfect fit, but workable with some knife work. I took 1.5" from the engine side, and 3/4" off the radiator side. I also had to take 1/2" off the upper cross-over steering bolt.
This is interesting. I replaced my speedometer cable not too long ago. One day, it died. I wonder if there was a bad batch. I swapped in another cable, but I haven't had a chance to take the truck for a putt.
Hold the phone. Would you be interested in a set of Drew Pierson Sway Bar disconnects? Someplace I have a pair that I couldn't use after doing the cross-over steering. I will need to dig to figure out where I put them.
Interesting. I'm using the longer cable, mostly because it's what I had. I'm not only showing that the shorter cable is still available, I'm showing it's the correct part for the 3RZ in a 1998 4R. Stupid money, but available.
Short cable: 78180-89141
Long cable: 78180-35052
I agree, too. I hate having somebody do anything for me, especially when I'm perfectly capable. But, at some point I want the job done ... and I stick a crowbar into my wallet.
I only had a short putt in the truck this afternoon after I got it running. All I can say is this truck is a completely different beast. Good riddance on the 22RE.
I had an issue with the temperature. As usual, most likely the system needed burping. A few cycles and fills and it appears to be holding 195°F just dandy. Tomorrow, the freeway drive home.
Vrooooom!
Just a circle back. I tried the 3RZ air box every which way, and couldn't make it work. I bought the Dorman air box (258-504) for the 1999-2004 V6 Tacoma, and like @ne8st8 I had to remove the MAF bit and bolt on the 3RZ MAF assembly. Note this is a different air box used in the 4Runners.
The MAF is in the next state over, so Friday at the latest.
I used the stock 3RZ air tube to the Tacoma (1999-2004) V6 air box. It was almost a perfect fit. I just need to bolt it down. Like somebody else I had to cut the tube off and bolt on my MAF assembly.
I ordered a 22204-75010. I saw the -0C010 number cross referenced at Rockauto. The -75010 was on the truck, and the EPC said it wasn't for my year engine. It also said the -0C010 wasn't for my year engine. I ended up confused and called Don (@AmToy) with the VIN of the donor truck. The -75010 is...
I just talked with the fella helping me. I don't remember checking the wiring to the MAF, just the TPS and the cam sensor. He said we did. I will double check when I'm at the truck.
