Great intel. Thank you!
The KZJ7X series Prados have a solid front axle and use their own sump and pickup. But I believe you are correct about the later-model Prados - they share the 185’s setup.
Also, do you have any more details on the mods to the oil pan and sump pickup for solid front axle?
There are tons of 1KZ-TE engines available on EBay in USA. But they are mostly out of old KZN185 Hilux Surfs (like yours). I wanna swap into an early (1979 to 1983) solid axle Hilux. Can you use...
I would clean it up and replace it. I have heard lots of people using a shower curtain cut to fit. There is also a specific type of adhesive people use. I'll see if I can dig it up.
To remove the old stuff, try using diesel fuel.

Wow! Such a cool build. That truck will be unstoppable with the 1KZ diesel and dual case setup.
I would love to swap a 1KZ-T (with mechanical pump conversion) into a 1979 to 1983 Hilux.
The lower 1st gear (4.313:1) gear set is available only through a used 1986 or 1987 Turbo Pickup transmission. There are no aftermarket or alternative sources.
Anybody here own a 1979 to 1983 Toyota Pickup? Could you pull an interior dimension for me?
What is the width of the dash? Measured from driver’s side door panel to passenger’s side door panel?
Thanks in advance!
Duh.
Thank you.
What do you do about parking brake?

Sorry, I know just enough about this to be dangerous.
Dumb question:
You ultimately had Diamond axle make you a custom housing. Then used custom axle shafts, a 9.5" Land Cruiser diff, IFS wheel hubs, '86 calipers, and FJ60 brake rotors to build a complete full-float custom rear axle that has a...
