Those are my favorite Toyota year body styles, the running gear not so much... The blue one might make a good 3.4l transplant candidate... it's just money! lol
Okay so the best I can measure with a tape and the booster on the LC is about 8.25 +/- .... Best I can remember the first gen truck that I got it from was a round head light truck so 79 - 81 I think?
Good luck
That's what I used...
I think we were talking about bacon???
Oh.. to the op, make dang sure your calipers (frt and rr) aren't on the wrong side. Bleeders should be UP. And yeah, it takes a ton of bleeding... mine did anyway. And when you do the disc conversion, don't be too disappointed...
Bet he's updating to p/b on a 40 or something... ???
I found a 1st gen booster (79-83) came out of a 4x4 truck, not sure exactly what year as it was a junk yard find. I'll measure the dia. this weekend... it's close to 8" as I recall.
Nice rig, looks solid! Wow, didn't know the 22r came out so late for you guys .. bummer .. I can't imagine having something smaller than the 22r in my truck!!
This... the 3rz isn't much more power then the 22re. I just get used to getting in the slow lane and not pulling out in front of a bus or something. :D
I think you'll have to change the bell housing. Check out http://www.chilkatdesigns.com/Heavy-Duty-2rz-3rz-Conversion-Motor-Mounts.html for...
You didn't say what tranny was behind the 22re...
If you have 33's and auto it's going to be a dog. Re-gear and lock it to start with...
The 22re is a tried a true power plant and not a hot rod by any stretch. For mild wheeling and DD'ing I'd leave it.
Search around here and other forums...
I'd hold out for the 4cyl.. you get the geared t-case with it.
Make sure to inspect the frame for rust in front of the rear spring hanger. It's not a big problem but if the vehicle has not been taken care of I've seen them rust out at that spot.. and I'm in the South.
Also, if your thinking...
IDK ... however, my '85 DX was not wired for it so I had to run a wire to the SR5 cluster to make the tac work.
Also.. if you don't know already, the oil pressure sender needs to be changed to the gauge type sending unit, other wise the "idiot" light sending unit (yes they are different) will...
Awesome work man! Been watchin' yur thread for a while now. I so want to replace my tank with a cell located further back then get rid of the tank/cab indent like you did. Nice job!
