    I did this last year on my wife's 96 and it was easy, however a few tips wiil help you. The diff side of the helaf shaft did not come out or go in easily like I was told they would. You'll need to have a stout prybar to pry between the half shaft and diff to get them apart when removing the old...

    Thanks for all of the replies, i'm not sure if the remaned axles needed boken in or what but the squeeking went away after a few hundred miles, found the darn lube hole, don't know why toyota made the drain plug and fill plug two different sizes?? Thanks again,Brad.

    It has an 1-1/2" Lift, it makes the noise at any speed but only when turning the wheel, the shafts are the lifetime warranty remaned ones from carquest, they fit perfectly so i can't figure out why they would squeek, any advice would be great, TIA, Brad.

    This thread will probably get moved or flamed to death in this forum but i too love my 4runner, I'd suggest he go with a 96 or newer runner and also inform him that a rear elocker is available if he searches for one, Brad.

    I replaced both of the cv half axle shafts today, and when I pulled them completely out gear oil came pouring out of the diff, total loss of maybe a quart, where the heck do i refill it at? I'd say it was a :banana: :banana: job if anyone is in the need for this repair, it was my first attempt...

    I had a '93 runner at one time myself and even outfitted with ome suspension i was dissapointed, the new suspension on the '96 and up is tons better off and on road, still it doesn't compare to my 80 series, but the 4runner is the wife's and she digs it, thanks for the info, Brad. :beer:
