Basically all loopholes have been closed, there'd a pretty lengthy thread discussing CA import registration on here and the general consensus is that right now the chances of slipping through are extremely low if not impossible. Best to look for other means of registration.

From what I gathered the worst that can happen is big fines or you'd be forced to sell potentially. If I remember right your plate blends in pretty well. I bet a thicker license plate frame and everyone would just assume it's a CA plate anyway
