That sounds right to me. Once you are on the chassis and see a little suspension compression you will probably be fine. Really a degree or two is not going to be an issue.
Very excited for you to get this out and drive it! I am going to be very curious what you think of the turbo response. Sweet and different setup for sure.
Good progress, can't wait to see first start up.
I think I missed what size turbo you are going to run but it looks awfully big for this application. Running the numbers if you went with a 58mm like a EFR 7670, you should be able to make about 450ft/lbs @ 2500rpms and still make 550hp @...
Not a bad engine choice really, 3L with a turbo can make great power and torque. Ford is doing a 2.7L ecoboost in their trucks. It is just going to depend on turbo choice on where the powerband is. Good looking build!
Get yourself 2 good semi truck tire irons like the Ken-tools, get a bucket of tire lube and get busy. Those are going to be too big to be machine mounted at a tire shop, but as a kid 16-22 I used to mount and unmount semi and heavy equipment tires with just those 3 things. It’s hard physical...
Bobby said he broke all the u-jointed shafts straight ahead with a solid bar through the ears of the flange and he broke the birfield joints at full lock. He said if he tested standard spicer u-joints they would just beak the u-joint and not test the shaft.
This chart shows the 30 spline as 8500lbs and the stock 60 at 6500lbs, this was from Bobby's axle breaking demonstration at Jamboree

Well if that is just a D60 shaft what's the ujoint? Some of the very strong ujoints can't be run in a fulltime four wheel drive setup. The 80 series upgraded birfs and shafts are great for what they are. I would guess if you are breaking the 80 joints it is likely you will need more than a...
Old thread revival but I received the CAD drawings from RCV today and the internal parts for the D60 and the bell are all bigger than the FJ80. The 80 Birf bell is 4.010" and the D60 is 4.485. The D60 shaft is 1.5" and the 80 30/30 shaft is 1.23"
Yeah might have been if you include lockers if you found a good deal on e-locked axles. But you would of had to mess with new knuckles, machining them, getting high steer arms to clear the leaves, etc.
