INFAMOUS 80 Series TLC CrawlerBox/Transfercase FAQ

That would be for a ToyBox in an early FJ80 behind the A440. We haven't seen an A440 from a 3FE so we're not positive that the tailhousing is the same as in the FJ62.

INFAMOUS 80 Series TLC CrawlerBox/Transfercase FAQ

We have done one adapter to go behind an A440. It was a one off adapter plate and there was a fair amount of mods required for the install (oiling provisions, floor modifications, and a few others). For an 80 series it COULD be modded to work with the early FJ80s with the 3FE. We haven't...

    Help w/ narrowed 14b

I have seen short side shafts vary in length about a 1/4" as well. I'm running one now with a bit ground off the end. All the socket head cap screws I sourced for my 6 lug hubs were just a hair too big to allow my Raceline wheels past. I ended up chucking each of them in the lathe and taking a...

    Need a TAP!

If you only make a couple of cuts they'd be fine for spares. I'm not so sure that method is going to do you much good as it is usually used for cleaning threads and not cutting threads. With the warped bung, I think there will be a little cutting needed. If it doesn't work, you're welcome to...

    Toy Box Check...

Rule of thumb is usually paste is ok and is normal wear, chunks is when you have problems.

    Builds Family haulin'

I'm bummed to see you're not going to make it to Moab. Been looking forward to checking this rig out. I'm just buttoning up a few things up on mine and heading for the Hammers Friday then off to Moab next Tuesday.

    14 bolt info

There was in fact a few 14 bolts running KOH. How many racers were running Mogs, Portal Teks, or those goofy Atomic axles. Sure a handful but not many. Most of the top finishers were running fabbed 9" housings. So where does that leave the ground clearance argument? I also don't think there were...

    Builds Family haulin'

Man I've got some big things between me and Moab but I'm glad none of them involve rebuilding the motor. Looking forward to checking this thing out.

What kind of RPM is it spinning @ 60? I'm thinking it'd be down around 1700 which I would think would be just low of the "happy spot" of that motor. If you need them, I have a good set of 4.10s out of an 80. Only 1 set but there yours if you want them.

    Axle Pitfalls

Nice score Andy. It's funny you mention Jess' 14 bolt to Toy flange. Mine just showed up today. :D I have been running welded since I got the 14 bolt going and it has been working fine. I came across a screaming deal on a Detroit but before I even installed it I decided against it. I've...

    Axle Pitfalls

9" axles are semi float and came in either 28 or 31 spline configurations.

    Axle Pitfalls

My initial axle build was going to consist of a Cruiser center section with 14 bolt outers. Broached 35 spline side gears with custom shafts. Needless to say the budget for that versus what I did do was a fair amount steeper. Also I figured if I was going to go through the effort of a stronger...

Head ache rack is kind of ugly on there. Any progress on the cap for the roof?

    Axle Pitfalls

Just rework a set of 14 bolt hubs for 6 lug. That's what I did on my FJ60.

    Axle Pitfalls

I've seen a lot of guys are bending their lower links in to clear the steering. I'd love that kind of steering though.

    Axle Pitfalls

Hey Andy, I've run a 14 bolt on many rigs...main reasons is they are stout and cheap. The pinion has an additional support bearing that neither of the Dana axles have. The shafts are 1.5" from the factory, and it's got a bigger ring gear than the 60. The pinion in the 60 and 70 are the same...

    Installed my Hysteer from marlin

What box/pitman are you using? Was the steering wheel centered when everything was bolted on? What is the measurement of your drag link?
