Yeah, since we moved out to Sandy 2 years ago I haven't seen much of the group or been involved. Been doing house stuff so my rig mostly just sits around at the moment but I love having a shop with a lift now to work on stuff. I've been out to LaDee Flats a couple times but there's only three...
Ouch. Body took a beating. Ever thought about more tube work like tube doors? I like your buddy's cab exo coming through the fenders.
It would be awesome to see moonshine on UA.
@Tennessee80
Thanks.
I'm going to need to get an update here sometime soon. Haven't done too much work on the 60 but there has been a few things. We did move to a place with a nice shop (no more gravel fab for me!) with a lift already installed and I've been running around doing new house...
Just at the beginning for torqueing the head. When I converted to studs I did two rounds cold, ran it to warm up, retorqued after that and then ran it like normal for a week, and then retorqued again. I know it sounds overkill but I haven't lost a head gasket yet to high boost so it must have...
Here are my thoughts on your questions:
1. I've been running the stock 4bt oil pump and cooler set up with no oiling issues. I don't think that's a required mod, at least my experience has been that it's not needed.
2. With the tuning I've done I'd go with the 14cm2 wastegated housing...
Ok, I thought the small was clamped down but the big was still opening the wastegate quicker. Sounds like both are running tight wastegate tensions.
So to recap, you started at 27psi total and through some leak fixes and turbo wastegate tuning you are topping out at 42psi with the same exact...
Big: PR = (18 + 14.7)/14.7 = 2.22
Total: PR = (41 + 14.7)/14.7 = 3.79
3.79/2.22 = 1.71
Small PSI: (1.71*14.7) - 14.7 = 10.4psi
Big turbo is making 18psi and the little turbo is making 10.4 psi for a compounded 41psi total. Small doing about the same and the big doing a little bit more. EGTs...
Big: PR = (16 + 14.7)/14.7 = 2.09
Total: PR = (37 + 14.7)/14.7 =3.52
3.52/2.09 = 1.68
Small PSI: (1.68*14.7) - 14.7 = 10psi
Big turbo is making 16psi and the little turbo is making 10psi for a compounded 37psi total. So same total boost as before but EGTs are down and the little turbo is...
The good thing is that there has already been some improvement so that's a good thing.
My belief is that when we choke the exhaust flow we won't be able to make as much power as we could when we are able to get the exhaust out so that new air with more fuel can make a bigger boom. It's that...
Big: PR = (20 + 14.7)/14.7 = 2.36
Total: PR = (37 + 14.7)/14.7 =3.52
3.52/2.36 = 1.49
Small PSI: (1.49*14.7) - 14.7 = 7.2psi
Big turbo is making 20psi and the little turbo is making 7.2psi for a compounded 37psi total.
With your small wastegate wired shut (meaning it cannot open now...
Great question, not sure it's a better location but the only two options are compounded boost (where you have it now or any spot down stream like the intake manifold), or off of the atmospheric turbo. It kind of depends what you want to achieve and how your turbo's work together. If you are...
37psi on a single on your system would suggest to me that you've got fueling now (plus the egt reading seen on your gauge) to be able to spin this compound set beyond the 26 you are currently getting. With some turbo setting adjustments you'll be able to harness more of your current exhaust...
Your fuel pressure is plenty for a VE injection pump. Any more and you start running the risk of pushing fuel out of the front seal on the injection pump and into the crankcase oil so I wouldn't go after more fuel pressure. I am getting 60+psi (compound boost) on 7-8 psi of fuel pressure and...
