When I was a kid in the mid 70s they were building the last few lots on my dead end street. It seemed like all summer but I'm sure it was only a few weeks. But anyway that series of sounds went on non stop it seemed. bam, bam, BAM! 1, 2, 3 over and over.
It's a little different if you're building with seasoned Ash.
Using an approximately 25 y/o Porter Cable 30' nailer that has little actual use. If they even make them anymore I doubt they are what they used to be tho.
The Harbor Freight stud welder comes with the puller tool. Maybe the piece that grips the little stud can be bought as a replacement part from HF? Don't know what the thread form on it is without getting the tool out.
I was looking on my phone over the weekend - now I see that is different than mine. I pulled up the manual and sure enough no drawbar - so don't buy a set of R8 collets. Still it's a nice heavy machine that should do what you need.
R8 Collet Set
Each one is sized to the specific mill or drill you are going to use. I assume there's a drill chuck in the spindle of your mill. To use a 3/8" end mill to make your slots for example you would use the 3/8" collet (unless you have a 1/2" shank on your 3/8" end mill).
Anyway...
I bought that HF machine new about 5 years ago. No complaints except what is known....the round column. One of the first things I did was put an 8" or so long piece of 1" aluminum into a 4" Chinese Kurt vise knockoff and ran an endmill across the top end to end. All I did was clean the...
I've got the run of mill Chinese (Harbor Freight) 40 lb. (?) floor standing cabinet. I run it with an older 5 HP 60 gallon vertical that I bought at Grainger which I believe is a Speedaire. If I'm on the trigger constantly the compressor can't keep up (pressure dependent - with the regulator...
I've been using the HF ones for years. Yeah it's HF but what is there to really go wrong. Yes they had the jack stand recall - but these are just for stabilization and extra safety. I've put some pretty serious weight on them - right now I've got my diesel Mercedes up there. And I was...
Speaking of that crappy HF socket set....I sacrificed the 41mm to make this Mercedes SST for the locking but on these bearings. The tool is pushing $100 these days for something I will likely only use once. Broke one of the tabs breaking free a nut that had been in place for over 35 years...
A tool doesn't have to be permanent but can be improvised and temporary. This was cobbled together from some hub I had meant to go on a motor shaft, a crappy Harbor Freight 3/4 drive socket, and the threaded rod from a spring compressor. The Mercedes tool it emulates is meant to change...
I'm certainly not a knife maker - but if you're enjoying doing work like that spring for a 1" belt sander.
The flat platen at the bottom is for flat surfaces like your blade, the unsupported portion above the platen allows convex work, and you toss that silly guard on top and the wheel...
Did you match the RPM of motor to pump of course taking the ratio of pulley sizes into to account? Spinning the correct direction? The pulley on the compressor pump is the fan. Has to be blowing towards the cylinders.
YouTuber Mustie1 has an excellent video where he replaced the pump on an...
I haven't inspected mine yet - I can look this weekend. In an article on CNN.com I think they blamed it on worn tooling in China. Entirely believable but should have been stated "Sh!tty Chinese tooling manufactured at the lowest possible cost by people who have no clue how the end product...
