Ok, makes sense now Zill, thanks!
I bought it recently together with the thread on funnel and the drain nipple/hose.
Your experience and those of others must have led to these changes...
Added a youtube video of the same. The dude seems a bit "excessively" liking it ... But it is pretty...
Seems the important part is the spring bypass and the correct positioning of the same. While I have not opened it up and I will not (staying OEM), if the tube holds the spring in place I can see bypass happening at a lower dP. This is not good at all and the problem AMD is pointing out.
Did you buy the Venza cap direct from a Toyota dealer and the packaging looked OEM? If not and say bought via eBay or Amazon it can be a Chinese copy with even look alike packaging.
Filter Cap
For me damaging the high $$$ female thread (engine side) of the 3UR-FE is the main reason not to go with a metal or light alloy Venza style replacement. The risk a “mechanic” will cause damaging using incorrect tools or methodology is not insignificant in my view.
Staying OEM, I...
Regarding the 3UR-FE oil filter cap I would recommend using the OEM plastic version and a proper tool to remove it like the one from Motivx, because I rather not cross thread the engine side. In case your existing plastic one is damaged, replace it with one bought directly from Toyota, so it is...
Well, while I have not much against timbren's perse, other than point loading the axle (maybe not an issue in a 200, I do not know), I also have to disagree with this statement.
Air bags installed inside the coil springs, either firestone type or airbag man (= firestone + kevlar sleeve) provide...
I have the Airbag Man setup with Kevlar sleeves for longevity and ability to go to higher pressure (in my case 30psi) when we tow something heavy. Good setup with schrader valves routed to a metal clip at the hinge area of the split tailgate. Been holding up with no issues since 2021. Fingers...
Well, the pro clip base does not mount to the vent moving parts at all. It clips right below it. I prefer this for longevity of the vent mechanism (the moving vanes). At the same time it cools the phone. It is also a strong base. I think it is MUCH better mechanically than any solution clipping...
I like that the pro clip does not attach to the vent in any way yet partially sits in front to keep the charging phone cool, while enough air passes to reach the driver (beside the one at the door). It is also strong and does not vibrate when you drive. Which one is much better is an interesting...
I remain very happy with the proclip and wireless charging combination. Use it daily in both the LC200 and BMW 535d. Has worked well, no deterioration from new, 100% happy.
Thanks, that confirms our understanding of KDSS and its draw back I would say.
Good approach there to park in alternating directions.
In my opinion KDSS remains a great system, yet this may be the major draw back. A trade in for an LX570 with AHC could be one way, assuming AHC levels itself...
Linuxgod, I see the same from reading up on this and watching the online videos. Makes sense after driving and heat and/or vibration and alternator voltage on the system (~14.5 vs 12.5 battery) that things can clear.
Some things to consider as part of longterm maintenance:
- Checking and as...
I enjoyed the maintenance thread started the other day by GR8Daneger and gained some insights in steadily replacing power steering fluid, as well as replacing the engine air filter instead of messing around with it using compressed air (taking the feedback at face value).
Agree trolling is not...
Exactly how KDSS works on a 200 series. Great it is just a simple hydraulic system and very happy how it improves on road handling in corners and will allow for full articulation offroad.
However a sloped or more so angled drive way would not be a happy environment for a 200 with KDSS or a...
I agree with you a lot of the suggested intervals in this thread is babying it for a Toyota and that if it really required there are plenty other good choices out there. Why indeed pay the Toyota premium.
There is another aspect whereby the maintenance performed, or the fluid being replaced...
I wondered what to think about your profile name.
Doing maintenance or some additional things to manufacture recommendation (like the claimed lifetime ATF) makes sense within reason when you plan to keep a vehicle for the longterm like many of us do.
Looks like shocks would be collapsed when standing on its own wheels. I would think spring force left right is not equal or balanced for what the 200 needs. Can they be changed sides? That could be low cost and worth a try.
