How is the trail? I went twice back during the summer and the trail was majorly blocked due to downed trees from a storm. I could never make it mast the big crossing.

This is a huge wilderness area, there isn't a cop at every intersection. :p
It's an extremely short distance from the hwy. it's standard 4x4 stuff. Only thing is that you cross the river 3 times and they can be pretty deep depending on water flow but overall way less of a challenge than the bigger Cove water crossings.
