No problem Alvaro...try this: 160124731417
I really thought this was really awesome the way it turned out and a lot of folks with the 7800 or similar remote head mount radios will like this.
Please let me know if you would like additional info--I am willing to help everyone out with this...
Hi all,
Unfortunately, I have to sell my 80 series to buy a commuter car (listed on ebay :crybaby:). I did just finish my 7800 install a couple of weeks ago. I ended up mounting the head unit on a Proclips center dashboard mount and ran the data cable into the crack in the dash so it is a...
FirstToy--can you tell me where I can get that insulating tape? I am going to mount my radio in the cubby this weekend and would like to seal it up like you did.
Thanks!
Dave

I used to teach electronics in the Navy and have 2 VERY easy 'thumb' charts you can use to tackle all of the OHM's law stuff:
-First you draw P over I/E. I would draw a 1 inch circle, divide it in half with a horizontal line. Above the line I would insert 'P' and then...
Hi,
Can you tell me how you ran your power line? Was it off of a local fuse box or did you do a home run to the battery?
I have the FT7800 and it looks like it comes with 10ft of cable but will probably have to splice that. Cut the inline fuses off and relocate closer to the battery with...
Are you having difficulty with rx or tx with that antenna? I'm about to purchase an sbb5nmo that will sit on a k400cnmo on the rear hatch. Hoping that will do well for my needs especially clearance issues.
Thanks for that info B. I'm sure I'll need it shortly.
Just ordered my expansion cables off of EBay. If all goes well...I could do my install this weekend.
That is if my new baby girl does'nt need me :-) (2 1/2 weeks and growing!)

I had a 12 year old in class with me--he did'nt pass the 1st time so they sent him back in for another shot--apparently he missed it by just a few on the first round.
I have heard that they do want to offer more people the opportunity to get their license due to the dwindling numbers of...
Took my test on Saturday and received my call sign this morning - KI4VZB!!!
I will be installing a Yaesu FT-7800R with a Diamond K400C mount and Comet SBB-5NMO antenna.

The FCC publishes the entire question pool. Of course you should study all of the material to be familiar with it vs studying the exam questions.
I just took it on Saturday and passed...they do not tell you your score, just P/F.
They also uploaded it immediately and my new call sign...
I will be picking up one of the FT-7800 radios this week. I really appreciate the money saving tips and the location of the radio in the cubby.
I have a few questions:
1. Can someone tell me how they ran their external radio antenna into the cubby? I will install the same mount and...
Yes-the kind that sits on top of the window. I did'nt notice any significant wind noise at all yesterday after I installed it and did highway speeds. I purchased the MFJ 310S style. It's black and low profile and does fit nicely on top of the rear slider on an 80 series with the 16" diamond...
I was at HRO today and purchased a window mount for my sma diamond antenna (srh77ca). I also purchased a Yaesu VX-2R and this setup works great for a handheld sma antenna setup.
I ended up mounting the window mount on my driver's side rear sliding window. Looks cool and ran the very thin...
What about using the Yaesu VX-2R to monitor and transmit CB? It has a max output of 3 watts and is a very small hand held. I'm thinking about trading my GPS unit in for it(sell/buy). It's also an HT and dual band with a ton of features.
Seems like a nice alternative for a short range device.
Update--just checked Frys.com and now they are $189.00 out the door with free shipping. Best deal around for a new GPS with that software and latest Sirf III chip.
Mio 310. Got a great deal a few months ago for $199 from Frys.com with free shipping. Great little entry unit with 3D software. Also includes the Sirf III chip and windshield mount.
Watch for sales at Staples as well.
