I took the easy way out and bought the reclining rear seat hinges for my 1997 80 ($$$) from Japan. I now have 2 Oak rear seat hinges from my rig.
You can mod these to recline and keep your stockers. Great shape, oak color, hinges only...
Just wanted to put in my $.02 in support of MOT! I had my bar and other 'stuff' shipped slow-boat and they arrived in good condtion 2 days ago. To be installed this weekend, hopefully!
Thanks Mot! Saving nickles and dimes for some more JDM goodies in the future...
And should still be a very easy install, punch through the holes out the front of the dash, use that to line up your little hole-saw, and gently put two holes in your dash. Maybe worth disabling airbags for this one depending on what's back there, no? Nothing like a running drill with hole-saw...
Looks like it's spaced to compensate for the plasitc dash. Nothing a small hole-saw won't take care of. Seems to me it'll be much stonger/more secure that way.
I bet them tabs on the bar fit into the metal dash as well behind the plastic dash. Getting the Dremel and cordless drill ready now ;)
Interesting points from Scamper and a very good legal point from Rich.
I don't really know how to make this any more clear:
I AM NOT TRYING TO GET OUT OF PAYING THE $10 TO TOYOTA. I WOULD HAPPILY PAY THE $10 TO TOYOTA. I DON'T WANT THE MANUALS FOR FREE, I WANT TO PAY FOR THEM.
I also...
I'm not advocating ANYONE share the info. for free!
Here's my question to you guys who have downloaded all the PDFs. If I get a subscription and pay my $10 to techinfo.toyota.com, and I send you a copy of the confirmation email or give you my username and password so you can VERIFY that I...
It's not the cash. I already own the FSM and electrical manual. It's the convinience of searching and printing out stuff like front axle service when I'm working with tubs of grease and birf-soup. I'm not trying to save any money, in fact it's about spending $10 more...
That's why I suggested...
You know, it would be awesome if someone who downloaded all the manuals could offer them in a single, downloadable package for those of us who don't have all day.
BUT! They should only be made available to someone who can produce verification that they paid for access already.
Basically...
WTB OEM radio for ~97 FJZ80
Trolling for someone's old and unused double-din AM/FM/CD/CASS factory radio. I don't care if it actually works but I'm looking for parts, specifically a WORKING backlit LCD, as that's my main issue.
I'm willing to pay shipping and handling and a couple of bucks...
Damn 'useful life' engineers. Looking at the board it looks like the LCD is basically an integral part. Maybe it's a whole board swap. Time to hit the classifieds I guess...
So the LCD is soldered to the board? What a bummer.
I guess I'll hit the classifieds as I'm not one to pull crap apart without the parts to possibly fix it...
What are we looking at, probably 10-12 solder joints...ugh!
Wait a sec. Although trolling for parts, I'm more interested in the fact someone else has had theirs apart and has the same problem I do (with the radio that is)...
Yep, it's the LCD backlight where the numbers are. Can't see it very well during the day and can't see it all at night. I was...
Got OEM radio parts?
As I am a sucker and as I don't have a garage to do anything remotely entertaining I'm looking to replace the burnt-out (I assume) LED in the right side of my OEM radio. Not because I think it's a great unit, not becuase I'm trying to save money (what a novel concept that...
