Nice work!
If you haven't bought the glass yet, it may scare you.
We converted 3 closets and a half-bath into a master bathroom and spent well over $10k. I had the plumbing and drywall done professionally and handled everything else myself. I originally budgeted around $8k.
WRT to the GFCI. The thermostat for the floor heating system has built-in GFCI. With only a 3 amp draw (i had a slightly smaller area to work with) I wired it into the same circuit as the lights. I did not load the lights/outlets off of the thermostat GFCI, instead setting them up on their...
Just finished turning an 9' x 11' area with 3 closets and a 1/2 bath into a single closet and full bath. 36 x 60 shower with 2 showers/3 heads. Heated tile floor and duct work comes out through the kick plate on the cabinet. The house is 86 years old and I demolished down to studs and joists...
The issue is evaporation and the rapid loss of free water that results in shrinkage and cracking of the concrete. Any water needed for hydration is added at the initial batching.
We maintain a minimum of 7 days wet cure and are doing experiments with 14 days wet cure for bridge decks. A...
Conduit is cheap and easy to install. You'll already have the trench dug, so it is just a few $$ and a little more time to provide some insurance should you "call after you dug".
I'm not offering anything unless I'm there to see what is actually going on.
I envision the porch falling off of the house.
Sounds like a good idea. Get your BIL involved.
Such an unhappy 40...
I'd suggest calling the contractor/sub who installed the hardware. Review the situation with him/her and then decide the best way to correct the problem. Make sure that the problem is identified, then you can determine who is responsible for the repair.
Just poured a bridge deck today in Dodge City, KS. No accelerators were used. A little late start as we had to melt some snow and ice off of the rebar and forms from a storm earlier in the week. We are good with blankets only until Monday when the lows hit the teens and highs may hit 30. We...
A couple layers of blankets or 3 or 4 layers of burlap should take care of you. Just make sure they aren't placing on frozen ground.
You shouldn't need calcium IMO.
Looks nice. If you have an HLVP gun, shoot your paint using that as it'll give you a really nice finish. Also, are you planning to attach this to the wall? You didn't mention it, but I'd suggest you do, especially with kids and a heavy TV.
Looks like a fun project.
A lot depends on what needs to go under the wall as a footing. Don't skimp on a design since you are putting a structure on it. I'd suspect $2 - 3K. The concern I would have is that the structure is naturally going to want to move down the hill so shoring it will be important.
How deep? If just making a scribe line for a clean break go the skil saw w/ dry diamond blade (and dust mask) route.
If you want to do a full depth cut, rent a saw.
