If they are flat as many of the aftermarket ones are they won’t contact the drum as level.
If they are ramped and you have tbem 180* out they really hit the drum goofy.
Worth a look. Discovered all the 411 when I built 4 wheel drums on my 45
The one piece cases have one seal back there. The drum for the parking brake gets grooved and the speedi sleeves rarely work.
Algazy and Mudrak will mod the speedo housing with a second seal that will cure that issue forever
I did something similar. Took my nut off. Replaced flange/seal. The pinion sank into the 3rd a little. I put the nut back on. The pinion must have stuck because I tightened it good. Staked the nut.
Backed off ramps and snap.
It was bound up and it snapped the tip off

Are you running castor shims? That much shackle in the front will be a big cause of steering issues without the caster correction. Anything over an 1” over stock and I use the steel ones from Valley Hybrids
