I wish you could drive it. The H42 is such a sweet setup with a split case. Quiet. Plenty of run up in first without having to shift immediately. Coupled with this Mosley PlusP motor.
Man.
It’s the real deal.
I found the rattle. The hole I had for the transmission was not large enough so when you torqued the motor it was hitting.
Fixed.
Added a matching pair of shackles on the front. The ones on there were stock length. These are the 4.8”‘that Man A Fre sells.
I measured caster before. With the...
Got the hump back in and took it for a spin. I have some hump/transmission interference so its gotta come out to investigate
Rear axle looks great. Centered nicely. Gonna add some taller shackles in the front tomorrow. This is a little too much rake
Getting close.
If you don’t use your ebrake with El Dorsdoa then they won’t stay tight. It’s like a 60 rear drum. Use the ebrake. It self tightens.
As for placement. This truck has all kinds of real estate under the bed. Made choosing that location easy.
As for the 40, the one we did on Lockwoods 72 FST...
The latter. There are all kinds of ways to adjust the cables and where the EStoppe meets the cables.
Pulls a set amount.
I’ve used it on 2 el dorado trucks and one with Toyota rear discs
I lined it with this heat shield and add a Specter gasket kit
And done. This is a painstaking process but it has to be done on these old ones.
Got the heater back in.
Wednesday. Seats. Gas. Fire it up and see if I did it all right.
Paint guy surprised me today and told me the hump was finished. I boogied down there and then decided to just go ahead and bite the bullet and make it all fit. Headed out of town tomorrow and figured it would be nice ti come home to just a small finish job
This is my trick to get the first...
Ignore the out of fuel alarm but for those wondering, this is how the EStopp works. When it engaged and in Park it does not draw battery power.
Also, if you use ElDorado calipers it’s imperative to use the Ebrake every time you use the truck as the rear discs are kept tight by use of the Ebrake.
When I swapped the regular discs for the new Monte Carlo ebrake discs I discovered this truck still had 9mm brake lines so that replacing them with 10mm to talk to the TSM kit took a while.
Next I bled it all out.
Along with the axle/wheelbase stretch, I added a longer shackle from Man A...
Spent the afternoon moving the axle back 1” and adding some El Dorado calipers. For some reason I thought I had purchase my Wilwoood parking brake cables but I haven’t so hooking the EStopp stuff up will have to wait until summit gets me the parts. Hopefully for the weekend.
H55 out and stashed for @fireball
H42/split has been waiting in the Goat
H42 stuffed. I got one with a spacer so it would fit exactly like the H55 did. It’s a tight fit in an early 45 tub. No way this would fit if I was using the bellhousing motor mounts. The modified 60 crossmember allows...
