Thanks, I put my .002" in, lol. Gotcha... didnt look like it was on the hoops. I guess ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Any chance of putting a bend in the tail gate? :hmm: The terrain around here doesnt really make me question my approach angles too much...

Thats lookin pretty good. Some paint on the box you wouldnt look twice IMO. I'd keep the tail gate. Somethin I thought of when I saw the cross bar for the shock hoops was thatd take up some prime real estate in the box. Could you take and put some 45's on and brace each one idividually to a...

Looks good...simple. It'll ride a lot nicer with a premium shock position. How come you didnt leave the frame section with the cab mounts already on?

Grind the calipers till they leak then back it off 2 grinder swipes. Pack a wheel spacer to get you home in the 1 in a million chance the caliper fails and you need a local factory spec caliper 500 miles from home.

I get the whole off the shelf factory fit ideal... but the caliper isnt exactly a "high wear" item in my eyes... easily a 10-15+ year component if not longer.... especially if the truck isnt daily driver 15k miles a year. You could possibly gain 1/8" in the wheel clearance department if you...

That paint looks pretty good. First time I've ever seen the "hammered" paint... I'll have to look into that for an upcoming paint project. The hardener sounds promising. Any idea how much extra durability it adds? I just did a bunch of painting with armorcoat brush paint... sameish as...

Could run a stover nut....if the bolt became loose I dont think the stover would ever unthread itself without wrench intervention.

Should be able to jump that housing and keep it square! Lol. With the bolt going through the bottom, only the jam nut is clamping the ram in place. The theory behind a shouldered bolt would be so if the bolt moves the threads dont chew out the holes theyre going through. In any event I think...

Thats looking sweet. Nice work on the ram mount/front gusset. Your welds look pretty nice also!

IMO it's more along the lines of fit and finish and attention to detail. Id rather have my rotor register in a few thow window so everytime the wheel and or rotor gets re&i'd the pads are running in the same spot.

Depends on the wheel I suppose. I'd back cut the bushing so it is as wide as the rotor flange that way it doesnt matter if you run hub or lug centric wheels. @gnob said hes on OE wheels... which I think are hub centric with a shanked nut? Or are they lug centric in that era? The rotor doesnt...

I'll have to consider it before my next brake service. Im currently all brand new front brakes IFS/fj60 rotors... havent ever had an issue, but I do like overkill. The other benefit I suppose is being able to ditch the wheel spacer on the factory SA hubs? I did a quick google and came up with...

Thats pretty cool. Do the calipers deliver more cowbell than the ifs/v6 calipers used or is the primary benefit the larger rotor? Seems strange that theyd say to just cut the hub to X" if it wasnt even close. Hard to tell from the pics, but is the rotor hole bigger than the hub body?

I guess it falls along the lines of you can only be as good as your tools... ground hardened etc would probably pay for itself after a couple housings...

Im thinking I could F some things up in a hurry with a air hammer in one hand and a welder in the other, lol. I'm fairly decent at using a rose bud and water to move steel... air hammer would likely be a similar learned skill. Does the alignment bar need to be anything special or does a mostly...

Sounds like you have a plan! I'd like to see the jigging process. I could probably come up with an over thought idea on jigging it up, but it likely doesnt have to be that complicated. Can you elaborate on the peening deal?

Looks like some nicely fit pieces. I may have missed it, but any particular reason you didnt go with an aftermarket housing? All things considered Im having a hard time imagining keeping the housing true with all the welding, i.e brackets and reinforcements. Possibly very slowly it can be...

Really crammin 10lbs into a 5lb basket there. As for the diff flange being center I figured the ring gear gear would be off center of the carrier to allow the pinion to take center. I'll keep it in mind so I dont pull my hair out wondering what the H is going on when/if the pinion flange...
