70 series Landcruiser Troopy expedition build - Frame off.

This weekend I spent doing little things. I’ll change some connectors to Deutsch. I’m missing the mating connectors to some harnesses and have unlimited supply of all Deutsch products. Also a $1500 crisper that kept after a project ended. I can’t find the two hoses that come out of the...

So some bad new and some good news. I am pulling the drivetrain out and swapping the engine. I just came across a 1HDFT that a good friend sold me. Less than 100k miles. Could not resist. Would be nice to have both 80 and the troopy with the same engine. I know it's a bit insane, but none of us...

Sure. In Hawaii for a week. Troopy gets to rest. I like these windows. Got them from Alex at FitGarage all 4 for about $1K. They recommend drilling and screwing. I did not like that so I used Sika 221. The inside the 70 side windows is very ‘rustic’. I’m planning to fill the gap...

So you were just scanning on photos assuming it’s similar to the connector?

mmm. I found the sub harness for the heater control. I think it’s a later model harness because the connectors don’t match. I’ll have to identify the 2 and find a way to mate them with the evaporator. I guess from all aspects I’m building a car from scratch. Having issues with the two...

Ok. I figured some of the brackets. Also the dash actually fits. Does anyone knows the part numbers that connect to the two connectors on the evaporator? Also where the two brackets that are sitting on the transmission hump go?

And the bracket in front of the radiator will have to be replaced with a custom one. The intercooler is in the way. By the way Landcruisergrills in Flagstaff is making a custom grill to fit the intercooler.

So the main wire line on goes under the steering bracket based on your photo. I was struggling to put it above.

Pedals (from an 80 series including booster) are in as well as the heater/AC core. Connected the clutch line. I did curse today because of the time it took. I have so much sound insulation on the firewall that it was hard to install everything. Not sure about the puzzle with the gray...

Thanks Tommy. As my Optimal Control professor at Stanford would say after filling 4 blackboards with equations... " the solution is intuitively obvious" and we would look at the boards with dazed eyes.

Does the big loom goes above the steering bracket or below it? If above the relay block has too short of slack. And the column that goes down to the floor from the steering bracket is laying on the floor on the first photo. Is is where the relay block attaches?

Started mounting the wire harness and I need HELP!!! I'm not sure where the relay block sits. Is it under the steering bracket? Is the main harness sitting where I located it? Thanks!

Which windows did you get? I'm using eXplore and got them from Alex at FitGarage in Bend, OR. Front passenger is gullwing because i'm planning a tall cabinet there and the rest are sliders. They have a latch every ~3cm so you can not open them from the outside when they are partially open...

Front door windows, latches and locks are in all new hardware. Also the side window with Sika 221. Waiting for some wool sound insulation for the inside firewall. After that is electrical. Not sure how to finish the side windows inside window sill. My thought is to fill it up with acrylic...

One more layer of heavy rubber insulation for sound. I may add 1/2" felt under. Also new heater and AC OEM are in just to check fit. I'll pull it out in order to install the electrical harness. Also today installed the 4 eXplore glazing side windows using SIKA 221. Passenger front is a gullwing...

Working on the third layer of insulation. This heavy rubber is a bitch to work on. In the meantime to increase my motivation, started assembling the heater. I’ll check fit once the rubber layer is done in the cab. I’ll try glueing the rubber sections with SIKA 221. Do a test and if not...
