Just as an FYI it may be the picture, but those spacers look suspect as some of the nuts look to barely be threaded on to the stud. I would remove them if it were me. I’m not a fan of spacers unless they are very high quality and are proven to fit the application and be tested.
Yeah it’s completely normal to fight the cone washers. In Otramms video you can see he gives a few suggestions on how to free them up, but it mostly comes down to whacking the hub in the right spot with a hammer and they will eventually yield. I personally use an air hammer and vibrate them free...
I only request this because I’ve dealt with this on multiple 80’s. Sometimes when the calipers are in need of a rebuild the pistons with stick in their bores. A small brake drag or uneven clamping will pull on the steering wheel. A severe drag will be very noticeable and likely have a smell of...
Yeah we have custom radius arms here. That’s a huge red flag for multiple driveability concerns. I would get this to an alignment shop pronto to see what you’re dealing with. Many shops provide free alignment checks. This can help you with a starting point to see how out-of-whack your angles...
Just looking at the picture and shooting from the hip I see one of the knuckle balls pissing grease. The front diff has a large plate welded to the pumpkin area. Most 80 owners do not weld to the axle housings. In my experience with Toyota axles they warp from welding heat much easier compared...
Thank you Zjohnsonua! We are not trying to be negative to the OP. It obvious that this person has no experience with Landcruisers and this particular vehicle is new to him. All of these things can be very dangerous to someone if there are underlying problems with the vehicle, plus you’re also...
Yes depending on what components are loose they can cause a pull or push effect while driving. Jack your 80 up on the driveway and look for issues. I would never recommend driving with loose parts on the driveline not even one mile. You are putting your life and others at risk if something were...
The design of this axle is pretty simple and your "adjustment" is most likely the previous owner not maintaining this cruiser like they should have. Take the wheel off and start shaking things down and inspecting items for looseness. I imagine you will find multiple things wrong which most...
