There are few factory 80 down here HZJ80 with A442 and indeed it's slow .. but surprisingly ( at least to me ) they are not really worst than a manual 1HZ 80 ..

You may wanna source and " try " ( coz pretty sure you are the first one with this swap ) the A440 or A442 that came behind Mr. T factory diesel motors .. ( 1HZ and 1HD-T family ) for the 80 series ..
Kinda off topic but IMHO they are not ..
I had the privilege to own both side to side, same tires, same suspension, same almost all and the gasser it's much more flexible engine with clearly more wide powerband .. while my primary ( tweeked ) 80 it's a factory HDJ80 they are good in their own...
One related question .. ( or not . ? ) .. I'm planning a trip to USA in my HDJ80 .. I'm allowed to drive in USA my factory TD 80 ..?
Hypothetic .. if I sold my Marilu there .. it can be registered .. ?
superwinch also makes hubs that works .. we have TD 80 series part time that share the same hubs ( with shorter birf ) we have auto, manual both in part time .. ( as well as full time ).
