In Vegas for work so on my last day of the trip I went to check out BTB/Man-A-Fre. All I can say is that I am impressed and I think I may have found my go to parts house

That is tempting for the next part of the project. The tires are so old it feels like I'm driving on square tires.

Yes, that is so I can run a vacuum advance dizzy. I need to take the old dizzy to a machine shop and get it re-bushed. I'm probably not going to put the vacuum retard dizzy back in but I am going to keep it in case the next care taker decides they have to have it.

But wait! There is more! I also threw the "amazon special" hei dizzy on the ol Sun 504 and made some adjustments to mechanical advance curve and vacuum advance curve. I couldn't get it exactly where I wanted it but it is in the ball park now.

Nate is on the other side of the state. I have watched a few of his builds on YouTube. Not much wheeling on the dry side just mainly forest service roads and the local orv park

Just busy with life and working vw 1.6d swap into a samurai and gather parts for my wife's FJ40. Just picked up a relatively low mile 2F from a 60 that is going to go into the 40.

Not much going on with the 55 this week. I had to pull down the portion of the headliner that had mice nests and then fogged it with some Meguiar's New car scent, not because that's what I wanted it to smell like but I had it left over from another project. I did however drive it to work today...

So not much going on with the 55 this week. I had to use her to pull my truck out of the back yard. The FJ40 couldn't do it alone so I had the truck strapped to the 40 and the 40 strapped to the 55. Sorry no pictures, maybe next time. The brake weren't feeling all that solid so it was into the...

My budget is more like $88.60 and change that I find in the couch cushions. The secret to change producing couches is to raise the front of legs of the couch by two to three inches. This increase couch cushion change production by 23%.

Thanks. This 55 is purely low budget and limited time. The goal is a driver.

OK, time to get the carb sorted. This 55 had an aftermarket carb for a 2f when I bought it and it ran horrible. The PO had somebody "rebuild" the original carb and when he couldn't get it to work swapped in the Chinese 2f carb knock off. Lucky for me he kept the original carb, at least most of...

Yes, I got it all figure out. I made it through one or two pages of the thread and realized that the rear widow regulator was not rocket science. I was a bit worried some made it sound like the boogeyman was hiding in the rear tail gate and that regulator was made out of moon rocks and the...

So print number three it is! I had to play with the settings on my printer and the material I'm using does not machine very well but it does hold up well to attacks from files and sand paper. The down side is the print has to be almost perfect, which it is not but it is good enough and runs ok...

I have seen and heard of such an animal and they were a good idea 20 years ago but with rear window parts hard to come by a nylon gear makes a good fuseable link. The nylon gear, tailgate switch and circuit breaker are probably more important now then in the past. Finding good window regulators...

OK new gear is printed, and a comparison between the original and the PLA. I used PCTPE made by Taulman3D. It is some kind of nylon mix, it's got nylon and some type of thermoplastic. It's supposed to have the best properties of the two ingredients, kinda like a Labradoodle, only it's not it's a...

Other than the pins all of that is intact. I think what I am missing is the rod that stops the tail gate latch from working when the window is up.

And on to the gear! For anyone wanting to print out the gear the diameter is 50.9524 mm. I just rounded up to 51 mm in the slicer. I printed the test gear in PLA and I'm going to print the actual gear in nylon. The tooth engagement looks good. The gear is a little loose on the shaft, nothing a...
