Did a 1500km overnight drive, launched my boat across the beach, took some photos of the last sunset of 2023, carried surfboards etc… didn’t even add any oil!
My air conditioner hasn’t been that cool lately, with not much air coming through the vents. Due to no one being available until the new year to look at it I decided to have a pome around…. First, I replaced the viscous fan hub with a new Terrain Tamer one. I can notice more air blowing under...
Drill 3x new holes 5mm out from the originals on the steel clamp.. (will be obvious when you go to fit it up). Since I have the 3/4 windows I also had to cut the bracket (easy with tinsnips…)
Not exactly the weekend, but over the past 5 days I have driven the 60 about 2000km - mostly towing my 5m boat. Got about 16 L/100km sitting on about 105km/hr.
Got to do a few good 4WD tracks and dirt roads too. Also got a bit stuck on a beach…
7 days of isolation started for me yesterday - so a 7 day weekend to get some maintenance jobs done on the 60…
Todays job was the rear wheel bearings and axle seal (left only) as I recently did the rear brakes and the left drum was coated in diff oil…. When I drained the diff oil this morning...
This certainly isn’t as cool as the tailgate storage hatches, but it does provide a useful space for spare drive belts. Will do the same to the other side for spare cooling system hoses.. Just need to undo the Phillips head screws to gain access - but this is for emergency spares only so that...
Today I installed a ‘Carter’ 100gallon per hour / 7 psi lift pump to my hj61 to test if it solves a hesitation I am having at 2500rpm after getting the engine rebuilt.
It was a bit of a mongrel to install due to the fuel and brake lines and is pretty exposed, so will see how it goes…
I thought my weekend was reasonably busy with a bit of tinkering - but certainly not compared to the above posts!!! Anyway - I did the following:
New speedo cable to stop the bouncing needle (pretty sure the one I took out didn’t follow the proper route)
Re-wired the stereo head unit and amp...
Ha!!
I did briefly consider trying, but I managed to roll to a safe place (2 daughters with me), and the car has a brand new H55f, so I didn’t want to unnecessarily damage it!!
I had intended to fit my nice, new, genuine speedo cable, but after waiting for an hour on the side of the highway for a tow truck due to a blown clutch slave cylinder, I lost interest... (I found a new one (and clutch fluid) at a parts store close-by, but couldn’t get hold of anyone to pick it...
My big weekend job is done!! After putting up with a broken bonnet stay clip for 5 years (and using various hardware shop solutions that all broke), I asked at Toyota - and they still have them in stock!! $3 and it is fixed with a genuine part!! So happy!!
Sprayed CRC Soft Seal into any area I thought could be the source of leaks into my foot wells (been happening for the past 5 years since I owned it, so no big stress...). Also - Cleaned the 200, charged the battery in the RAV4, installed new seat-back organisers in the 60, received a Terrain...
