Because I do not agree. I think you made a very broad statement. I am no expert for sure but I have had my share of ECUs flashed for swaps and not once was I asked what size the intake was. I've fixed a couple botched swaps where I installed a larger intake system with zero negative response...
I always replace U joints on the drive shafts but do not change from OEM. Be careful on the front shaft, the drive shaft shop replaced the yokes once and they were a bit larger and cause interference with the trans pan.
I received a harness with two bad pins in that plug, brand new harness in a Connect & Cruise package direct from GM. Arrow on the plug faces away from the trans.
The Busman boxes are hard to beat for sure. That Tacoma world piece is a great user's guide on how to set up a relay/fuse box along with what to use and where to get it. It is rare that you will need more than one. The most I've used is when putting E windows into a 60, rather than having...
You will need an AC manifold of some sort. I use these from Hawk Motorsport. They have two types, essentially on puts the ports forward, the other puts the ports rearward. Both photos of the same piece.
In regard to towing with a 5.3L. I would look to the amount of GM trucks still on the road with this platform. These vehicles are often found working for a living pulling all types of trailers, still. A big reason why they are so very popular in swaps is the staggering amount of them that...
Cooling issues.......................
I have been using Ron Davis radiators for years. NOT ONE complaint about over heating. Not one. This is a case of "You get what you pay for".
I can choose any radiator I wish. I choose one that just keeps working and gets me zero call backs.
I've been...
Pretty much everything you need to know about how to do ANY swap in an 80 series is covered in the 131 pages of this thread. I have swapped stock iron block Gen 3 5.3L to LS3 6.2L crate motors and sure, the LS3 has gobs of HP and TQ but the real world truth is that that 5.3L from the local...
There are clearance issues if you try to use an LS front drive assembly vs a Vortec and the reverse. The Vortec belt runs a bit farther out away from the block, I believe in order to clear the throttle body but not positive that is the reason.
In regard to drier placement. You'll be using a GM compressor, most likely in a different location. So new lines will be in order in any case. Make a bracket and locate the drier where it works for you, then make the lines fit your layout. No need to retain the existing hard lines.
A page or so late but......
There was a conversation about blowing up 4L60E transmissions. I saw no conversation about using a 4L65E let alone a built one. Every crate LS3 I've installed in a LC has had a matching 4L65E from GM performance. Every 5.3L pull out swap I've done, save one, has...
Yes, no problems with a swap in your truck.
There is no one itemized list, there are so many variables with an LS/Vortec based swap that a full list is impossible. You have to narrow down your specific drive line before even a partial list is possible.
Everything you need to know is available...
