    Followed the FSM and took the connector off the sender, grounded an inline bulb and the gauge popped to life... Additionally the metal tab the connector attaches too swivels loosely around like a ballerina! My inexperienced and uneducated guess is the ground is broken at the connection/tab...

    I'm certain mine is a ground issue as well.. when you cleaned the contacts and plug (8 or 9 pin ) as BobM suggested that's what cleared it up? .

    I read w interest your gauge cluster write up.. that's good work.. I lost power to my temp, fuel, and oil pressure all at the same time... And I'm a block of wood when it comes to electronics...

    Blaster, respect your answer...it's the different views that make this forum what it is... 411: I ospho'd my floors twice after sanding... cleaned up very well... gotta agree w you... gotta prep the metal...only other considerations for me would be the thread(s) suggesting patina...

    Turnaround time is painful.. Patience is not one of my strengths, and it's about 10-12 weeks in my experiences... If there is a next time, this thread and the references/info included are golden... always learning..shifted me from 'why' to 'why not'... post pics if you decide to do it! Good info..

    If you have the rebuild kit go for it... 550 I think is what I paid for each of mine (3).. All 3 are running like new...one for 10 years now...
