Said goodbye.. :( She's off to new adventures.
No don't worry, I didn't sell it! I hope she's in the same shape on the other end when we meet again in a couple weeks 2000 miles away! Cruiser activity will probably be sparse for a while, but we are planning to see @cruiseroutfit on our drive...
We had some great weather all of the sudden, so Friday evening I changed the oil, loaded up and we took a little road trip down to the Oregon coast. We also figured out how to ensure the little guy is always smiling for pictures.
Coming back to WA we rolled the 6th digit over again, exactly 10k...
Yeah not too long ago. The tire covered part of the plate though, so it was just a matter of time. I could have just zip tied it somewhere I suppose, but it would still need lights.
I had read the Xterra uses the same frame. Ours was very quick, and drove like a car. Fun to drive with the 6-speed and the rev happy 4.0. Lots of small stuff like the trim/interior pieces/cargo area/door seals were falling off or apart though. It was just getting small with car seats in back...
We had a 2008 Xterra and while mechanically solid the interior just felt cheap, I got the same feeling from Titans. I tried to set brand loyalty aside and look objectively at features and also consider spousal input. The GM 1/2 tons were out on account of me not trusting the current cylinder...
Added a quick and dirty but functional bolt on ladder to my swingout. I was prompted by an encounter with one of Washingtons finest last weekend on account of my obscured license plate. Luckily Cruiser was riding with me and was able to use his blue eyed puppy gaze to convince her to let us off...
A couple wiring connectors on my 62 yesterday, but there was activity aplenty at the HausOfKlaus on Saturday.. bumpers, seats, headlight harness, bbq, beers, and just general cruiserness.
Thanks a bunch man! I'm kindof surprised how long the epoxy/solder/heat shrink "repair" job on my old ones held on. Every time I have to mess with crusty connectors and wiring, dark thoughts of 8-cylinder engines and brand new harnesses creep into my head. Idle is back to perfect now!
Yeah, that's the way to go. Zero fab required and a better end product, that you can also use down the road with lift springs. Adjustability is great, you don't need to run such heavy springs if you don't need them.
These are the bags. The top mounts to a piece of 2x2 square tube with that I cut to match the contour of the frame and welded on. The brackets below are what mounted to the bottom of the bags, the bolt went under the stock leaf spring. I made new taller ones that you can see in my original...
Reinstalled my old air bag setup from before the Tough Dog suspension. It was already getting heavy in the back with all the junk I keep in there, and the new bumper was the last straw. It doesn't look like a lowrider any more! Hopefully it rides as nice or better and doesn't wallow as much in...
Opened up a crate from @Fourrunner
Very nice packing job!
(There are more than one in here, a couple other guys and myself went in together to save on shipping.)
Got it tacked up on the 62 and then pulled it off to weld it up inside and out. Very nice fit!
I will be putting dual...
Put in a new starting battery, new OEM e-brake cable, scored a spare A440 and split case for free and took off my hitch and bumper in preperation for bigger and better things. This week has been the most productive '62 week since July.
Good eye, although to be a stickler it wasn't till 1919 that they shortened it from "Model 1912" to "Model 12." ;). 101 years old and you'd be hard pressed trying to convince me anyones done better since.
It was a last minute thing by the only chain tire shop that could get me in to get that off my list before leaving for SAS. I also locked my keys in the truck as my wife was dropping me off to pick it up, so we had to go home to get my spare and by the time we got back I wasn't even thinking...
A whole bunch of this.
(That's actually only about 80, totally legal here in Utah.)
On our way from WA to CO to SAS2. Still getting used to the RPM's with the 4.88's but she seems to like it just fine. 13-14 mpg running 70-80 at 6,700 lbs. with a ton of big stuff on the rack.
