    Or, regularly spray some fogging oil into the axle housing by removing the breather pipe and going in via that hole on top of the housing?? No way to know how long the protection would last however.

    That looks bad; was it sitting out in the weather, water contamination in the gear oil, or just a humid environment?? So maybe someone could come up with an "oiler sleeve" with shallow paddles designed to fling some gear oil upward that would slide onto the axle shaft??
