I'd be real, real interested in the details and theory on how he got the tach to work. Everything from where the sensor is located and the why and how of the wiring. I've got three 70s where I am really missing having a tach

Maybe your clutch is not disengaging completely due to a bad slave cylinder? Just a thought.

I have been reasonably happy with the rather inexpensive Noico product available Paul, were these the headlights you used? One of mine had burned out on my troopy and I had to borrow one from the pickup to pass inspection, so I am in the market for a pair. And what do you think now that you...

Hey Paul. You might check the cross reference at ToyoDIY to see if any US trucks used the same clutch. Re heavy duty or not, the heavy duty often have stiffer springs so become more tiring to drive. You need them when you are turbocharging and need to increase the power through the clutch. I...

I would have suggested getting a can of spray silicone lubricant and rubbing that on the window surround. When I redid the front and rear windows of the 70 pickup and 80 barn door rear windows it really was not all that tough. The lubricant made a lot of difference. The only downside is that you...

Paul, can I suggest using wire hose clamps: I have come to really detest worm hose clamps. These are closer to the clip OEM style and they don't chew up the hose and they have two areas of clamping. Most of them have a 10mm hex head screw; just overall IMHO a better way to clamp a hose.

Thanks for your PM, Ryan, I will put my two cents here in public; Paul and I have had slightly different experiences. I, personally, think he has just had some bad luck on the windshield frame. My troopy, which came from more-or-less the same source seems to have little to no rust. Shortys...

I may well do that when I really start on this truck. The Iota pickup, of similar age, had no rust -there- when we did the body work on it. I put the windshield in myself with a new rubber. This rubber was new. I may ask our mutual friend if he knows about the condition when they were...

I went down and had a look at my 1995 Omani troopy: I -think- the roughness is where some excess adhesive is on the paint. This truck definitely was repainted before it came into my hands. Do you have 'before' photos of these areas, Paul? Sorry about the quality of the photos. It is...

That rust is pretty nasty, Paul. Really sorry to see that. Surprised me given the Omani origin. I hope to goodness that my Omani troopy does not have similiar hidden issues. Mine had a large number of strange little holes in the rear inside bed that were welded up before a respray. I still...

Apologies in advance for hijacking your thread a little, Paul. There are two styles for the heater lines through the firewall. Close together and far apart. I used the close together version, partly because that was the heater core I found. The other thing I would suggest is to consider...

Hey Paul, so I included your dumb grommet in a list of 1998 Prado parts from a great parts guy here figuring it would be no issue for him. Surprisingly it came back NA=Not Available. But no worries. I will find a used one in Sharjah for you and drop it in the mail next time I am in the US...

They definitely are available Paul, if not as new OEM, then on the ground at the scrap yards. They are the kind of thing that you find lying on the ground in front of you. I'd think even US toyota parts suppliers would have no trouble. Are you having difficulty, Paul?

Same with the 80 series trucks with the factory swing-away rear tire carrier. There is a reinforcing plate in the right hand side D pillar that the carrier bolts into. I agree; probably the best option is a bumper-mounted AUS aftermarket carrier.

Maybe powder coat while you are doing this? You could have some fun with that!
