Has anyone here running a Gen4 with the GM ECM taken their vehicle through OBD2 emissions?
My tuner said he can flash my VIN to the ECM, but that there might be an issue with the EGR reading not ready (since the Gen4's don't have an EGR system).
I was going to go with the Terminator X Max until I realized it would eliminate the emissions provisions and OBD2 (I have a 1996). Not sure if it matters in NZ.
Not yet! 🤞
It has around 130k on it and as far as I know it's never been serviced. Two schools of thought have me conflicted on whether it's too late and it'll cause more harm than good or whether she should go for it.
Good idea. I've been driving my GF's 2005 Yukon with the LM7/4L60E for years now, and compared to the 1FZ that thing is a rocketship (obviously). Parents have a 2010 Yukon with the 5.3L/6L80E, so I'm familiar with the transmission. I'll have to find someone local with a 6.0L.
Kinda surprised nobody has come along and corrected me yet. I've been researching for what seems like forever, but there has to be something I got wrong 🤣
Depends on which 4 speed you're talking about (people have used both the 4L60E and the 4L80E). This is probably my biggest dilemma. I'm ready to start putting stuff together and I still haven't decided on which engine and transmission I'm going to run. I've been researching this for months, I...
Did any of you LS guys regear? If so, what transmission and what tire size are you running?
Planning on running 35's-37's, I went to 4.88's before I decided to swap and I'm worried I'm going to regret it.
Good to know :)
Since you have some experience with these, would you have any concerns with the reliability of the Holley system versus an OEM PCM? Also wondering if I'd be able to tune for MPG and/or pass emissions, since they're geared more toward enthusiasts.
The more I research, the more it seems like this is the best option for me, especially considering the cost of having everything tuned.
Has anyone done one of these with an 80 swap yet? Holley says you can't modify the harness due to grounding/shielding, and I want to make sure the provisions...
Sounds like the only way to use the factory GM mounts is custom fabrication then? Are there any off the shelf options you guys know of that would give me a good starting point? It's not out of the question, just not something I had anticipated.
That's a good idea! I noticed mine are cracked...
Whew, that was a lot to read! I've been reading this entire thread and taking detailed notes over the course of the past week.
Some of you may be following my completely ignorant deep dive into rebuilding nearly every mechanical system of my FZJ80 here. A couple years back I bought a 5.3 LM7...
