What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Shouldn't need to aim the headlights any differently as its still a halogen bulb in a housing designed for halogen bulbs, just enjoy the 1.5X light output.

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

5th gen 4Runners come with a smart key in Ltd. trim, FYI. But they still don't come with things like blind spot sensors, heated steering wheel, the factory headlights were awful (upgrades have resolved that nicely), and a few other things I was surprised to find weren't standard equipment on a...

Looks to be an HD 70 series of some sort, cool truck.

You've got yours mounted with the long tread blocks to the outside, opposite of the pic of the other guy's. Can they be run either way then, or is one "right"?

Who's version is this you installed? Looks great! Plenty solid to stand/sit on still I assume? I really like the grey carpet and flush latches on this one.

Wow, those just fit over the stock leather? They look great!

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Do you change the oil when hot on your truck? I like to do this so any particulates are swept up in the oil rather than settled out (not that you're ever getting all that soot out anyways, lol). This seems to result in a filter full of hot, thin oil. I'll try cracking the filter seal while...

So...what's the proper way to let it drain? Asking for a friend.

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

On a HDJ81 the oil filter is on the side of the block up near the top, and pointing downward...and you think you've got problems, lol.

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Looks like he added an oil filter adapter that rotates the filter 90 degrees so it's pointing up instead of at the block.

GTurbo Grunter Extreme install, all new OEM gaskets, studs, and hardware used. I had some good help to keep me hydrated and cool, lol.

Cut the old brake hoses and put a socket on them, works every time!

I guess you can't do custom overlays on the switches with backlighting? Looks like a good solution. Is it on a switch or on all the time?

If it does, it's up on the roof where nobody will ever see it.

That's pretty cool. Has it passed the freeway speed test yet? Driver's side looks to have a small gap in the seal at the front edge that air could catch, and the whole thing could be shifted towards the passenger side to center it on the roof.

I used the wife's garment steamer, get an edge started, then steam between the tint and the glass, and it just releases. Worked great.

I LOVE that tailgate storage with the factory carpet, is there somewhere I can get more details on the install (carpet specifically)?

Interesting, both of mine would idle for an hour or more at -10C and never register on the temp gauge. Even with some cardboard jammed in front of the rad.

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

The 1HD-T is a cold blooded beast, I run my webasto when it's this cold, even when the truck has been in my heated garage, to help bring temps up more quickly. It would never warm up idling, it needs some load to generate heat, so it's a fine line between babying it while it's cold and trying...
