Years ago, I took one of the original bezel blanks like this and cut into it to add in.....you guessed it.......a USB outlet to give my cruiser USB charging capability. Had to add in some electrical tape around the edges so it wouldn't pull out when removing USB cords. Chase has now solved all...
Hopkins kit is for trucks I think. You can adapt them to make them work on a 60 series which many do. @ChaserFJ60's idea is a better option IMHO. Plug and play setup, no guesswork. Good stuff here. Thanks.
Is the 5/6 wire to 3/4 wire converter even needed if you have access to creating a pigtail to plug into existing wiring? You could do the conversion in the harness you make couldn't you? So a pigtail that plugs in between the factory harness and taillight, converts the Japanese 5 wire lighting...
One last thing on the USB charger I noticed and thought was cool. So with the dash bezel and the USB charger together, when the charger is inserted in the bezel, the angle of the ports is more directly horizontal. As you can see in the photos, there is a significant curve right in the face of...
Not sure if you can see or tell in my above photos, but this piece actually has a lamp socket for the backlight (blue and black wires). You can pull it out to replace the bulbs. I think @ChaserFJ60 has both LED and incandescent options available for this. Mine is the OEM green incandescent...
So I just installed my CruiserHead USB charger today. I can say here there is a ton of work and effort in the plug and play version. OEM plugs make it an absolute breeze to install. The hardest part for me was just trying to get my finger back in the dash far enough to reach and manipulate my...
Oh my. You shouldn't have. Now that's service!!!! Looks great and speaks to my 60 series purist heart. Long live green glow!! Thanks here.
Wonder if there are boards available that just have the green LED in place. I guess green LEDs are somewhat out of fashion these days and blue or white...
So question on the USB boards you are using chase. Any chance those are backlit such that you can see the ports in the dark? The USB setup I cobbled together has ports that are backlit such that you can see them in the dark:
I find having them backlit this way is helpful for targeting them at...
Man looking great @ChaserFJ60. I would agree with @Spike Strip that you painting them would likely look better than someone buying unfinished and finishing it themselves. It is however more work for you so you might welcome selling unfinished ones to balance out your work load if these take off...
So got around to adding a dash bezel from CruiserHead.com. For those wanting to maybe see what one of these look like painted and installed, I thought I would include my install.
Before:
Some finishing work:
And finished and installed:
I am not sure how you could make this more OEM...
