I went with whatever @cruiseroutfit sells, which I think are heavy duty ($175-ish each if I remember correctly)
For me it's one of those, "Well, since I'm gonna already be in there and rip it all apart...might as well replace them."
:)
My knuckles need to be rebuilt also...I picked up EVERYTHING via @cruiseroutfit - the bearing set, seals, tie rod set AND birfs. All HIGH QUALITY Japanese parts.
Initially, I wasn't going to buy the birfs but I RARELY hear ONE "Click"...my thought is that since everything is going to be...
Good stuff!
My LC shop is just that...nothing but Land Cruisers. 40/55/60/62/80 and even some 70/75's and a few FJCruisers.
It just means that they know what they are doing and Cruiser owners trust them :)
$6k for a suspension refresh? Damn, that's like the HIGH end if you grabbed OME or Ironman4x4 and had them do it! What does the "refresh" consist of?
I'm looking at a 2.5" OME lift with steering dampener and bushings for $950 (~$300 off retail) through a buddy of mine who can get them through...
Nice.
I was going to replace the fuel filter a few months ago but the PO replaced it, unbeknonst to me, just prior to purchase. Shop said it looked "Really good" and had toyota stamped on it...so, it's OEM.
Considering I've only put 23K miles on it since buying it almost 8 years ago, they said...
What's the end result for the fuel cell? A new one or can they patch it some how?
Glad you're able to move forward!
I need to update mine again soon ;)
My drain plug openings looked just like yours! It was a sludge/mud mess! They're free of dirt all the way down...I haven't had any seepage into the cab/floorboard since Saturday. Bonus...my sunroof is fully sealed now!
I will also second on McGeorge.
Toyota Parts Deal is good for me also, but the shipping can be higher than McGeorge.
Sometimes, I find a better deal by 40% at Lithia (Toyota Dealership), but it's an hour drive for me...which is still worth it. Plus, I'll make a day of it and stop to see my mom...
If you haven't yet, you might want to consider updating the brakes to 100 series in the rear and 80 series up front. A lot of members do this change and it seems to be a real good swap. The 100 series pads have a lot more surface area for the pad. Swap out the caliper with a new one from NAPA...
Great list!
I made mine in a spreadsheet.
If you're interested, we can compare notes.
I noticed your Light update...I pulled this information from a deep MUD post on the interior bulb updates to LED...The noted Bulb is listed and then its corresponding LED from the site :)
Yeah, my glass shop proved the new OEM gasket wasn't leaking...it's the sunroof...either the drains or the seal is bad.
Thankfully, she's going into an auto electrical shop next friday and HOPEFULLY, it's not going to be too expensive.
Ultimately, I'll clear the drains to be safe, and the...
Thankfully, the shop said my PHH and fuel filter "Looks to have been replaced around, say, a little more than 20k miles ago..." which means they were replaced probably the weekend/month before I picked her up (I've put 20k miles on in 7 years). Shop said the filter, as it's OEM wouldn't need to...
Yep.
Apologies in advance for the rambling...
So, after being at the shop, and them pulling the dash completely apart and testing wires (some had no power) AND an AC Control Panel I picked up not working...a relay in the PS dash behind the glovebox was found not working...but this didn't...
Maybe!
Yeah, I watch OverlandBound (regularly, to include other channels)...that platform/kitchen setup is amazing...and very involved. At this time, I'm not looking for anything like that, but something simple, can hold enough weight (I'm 275 lbs so either two people or me and a dog) and still...
Oh, that's all completely understandable!
When driving, it's normally just me in my Cruiser...maybe a buddy, maybe my mom as it's easier for her to get in and out of sometimes (after five back surgeries in seven years) than my Avalon when we go on day drives (she's 72 next month)...The jump...
