@DangerNoodle could you take a picture facing the front and back of the truck? I’m trying to gauge if I like the width of adding 80 series axles to my 40. I have a spare set laying around and I cannot make up my mind about them.
Agreed 100%. I would rather bash the roll cage on a tree or rock than completely destroy the hardtop. Plus it doesn’t take long to remove for a short trip.
I have some 2” body plugs that I plan to use in those holes. It’s 1/4” tube steel so I’m not really worried about it rusting. Also the tube is open on both ends so I just run some water through there to clean it out.
It’s definitely not a show truck.
I would recommend using hole saw and recessing the bolts. I’ve done it on one side and need to buy another hole saw. Excuse the dirt I still haven’t cleaned up from my last trip.
@White Stripe while we’re talking about lowering SOA setups...have you ever seen someone cut and turn a front axle while it’s still setup in the truck?
