Definitely some wd40 coated rust seeped in. I could get it all off without wire brush. I’m going to disassemble and clean everything anyway. As for the oil passages, there’s rust in there and will have to use piper cleaners or something to get it out
Finished day 1, unloaded stuff and got the cruiser in the shop. Unearthed some less than ideal things.
There’s rust on the rebuilt engine and head. They’ve been sitting in a parked car outside for 2 weeks and something with the moisture happened, so will have to scrape it off I imagine? Any...
Best threads/ places to figure out what parts and bolts I need to order ahead of time? Any vendor recommendations?
I’m sure Oreilly’s will have some stuff they can grab on the spot but trying to get ahead of the game figuring out where to go ahead of time.
Best
Dan
Cruiser shipped back, completed engine (minus assembly of head and block together) and all items in the back. Everything’s paid for and gunna finish what I started. Exhausted, but I’m still here
Thanks for all your prior comments

Anyone know where I can find a full list of parts they would have taken out for the rebuild? I want to make sure no parts are left there and if I can send them a comprehensive list I think I’ll save myself a lot of headaches.

Thank you guys for the responses. I figured out a few months ago that the bloodletting financially with the cruiser will probably never stop and pretty much accepted it at this point, with the caveat that I’m doing the bloodletting to myself this time 😂 I’m in Ketchum Idaho doing the project...
Update, folks:
Picked up a job at a mechanic shop/business startup that repairs and sells old school JDM mitsubishi delicts. Ive been here a month doing marketing for them, I have access to shop space for my cruiser. Shipping the project hopefully this week -- machine shop is done but forgot to...
I'll give it a read. Thank you. What Large Items are you referring to the LC hauling? Are you speaking of other projects that will come after engine install?
I would much prefer to do the rebuild my self, think it would be a very cool experience. The issue is cost, 1800 +2k install labor for option 1, vs probably what 5-7k all said and done doing it this way?
Don’t have the parts yet, machining is done though
Machining is done, no parts yet. Have a tight budget, thinking it might be more practical to go option 1
Realized its going to be way too big of a s*** show to move the whole project to Boulder and not lose parts, don't have the financials to do so anyway. Spoke with the mechanic....Machine shop still has engine in the backlog. He has done the machining work but nothing else. Could be another 3...
Leaning this way. There's an 2f in orange a mudder is selling for $1800. Could swap that in with the current mechanic, have said mudder tune it, and save a few grand and time from what I've heard.
Also, legally speaking does anyone know how legally I can get out of having to pay the machinist...
