I found a local Toyota MDT to work on doing the valve seals after a lot of advice from everyone here. He's a pretty cool guy and used to own a few 80 series himself

That's what I was thinking, but the machine shop guy was so adamant about leaving it alone and leaving the valves in for the resurface...
Looks like he dented the side of the head too, it sure as hell wasn't there when I dropped it off.
I spoke with a toyota master mechanic after I got it dropped off and he told me that the shop probably didn't want to do it... 🤷♂️ I honestly didn't know what to expect I've never done this sort of thing before.
