We actually have done a cummins swap on the bj40 and bj42. We have the new r2.8 turbo now. Pretty awesome little engines. If anyone is going to SEMA come check us out we will be in the Cummins booth!
Well actually my partners is a 1979 BJ40 with the B motor from Costa Rica not sure were it came from originally and mine is the BJ42 1982 with the 3B. Are you saying the B motor will be under powered with the vegetable oil or just that all B motors are under powered.
Hi guys,
Here is some info on our project. Our team, based in Paso Robles, California, is comprised of three members all early Toyota Land Cruiser enthusiasts. We are in the process of restoring two rare Toyota Land Cruisers and converting them to SVO (straight vegetable oil) systems. After the...

I know it's too much and to go with the 4bt but I'm seeing more then one out there that already did it in a fj40 with a 6bt so can anyone with real life experience tell me something besides it can't or shouldn't be done. It's been done so what dose it take to do it that's my question. I know...
Can we re-visit the 6bt. It's been done. I know it's heavy, and i know it's a lot of torque but it's been done. Has anyone done it on IH8MUD? If so please talk to me i just had a 91 dodge cummins 5.9 L drop into my lap with a bad rear end low mileage and my F motor is on it's way out.
Beachguy702, any pictures how did it go. I've searched high and low for some experienced info on putting a 6bt in a fj40 and it just doesn't exist. But i've found several trucks online that have done it. I've heard what everyone says too much torque and too much weight. So please don't give me...
Ya i used filler because the fiberglass was damaged then i premiered it then painted it then painted the rain gutter. Siliconed and riveted the rain gutter to the painted fiber glass. Totally screwed up my new headliner installing it and started putting everything back together.
Thanks Racer65 that's what i was looking for. About the weatherstrip i'm sure i CAN'T afford the nice one. I know it's not the best but it's what I could do and it's ten times better the when i started. I bought the truck with about 6 bolts holding the hardtop together and no weatherstripping at...
Almost finished putting the hard top back on for the winter. Cleaned up the rain gutter and gave it two coats of POR15. Then resurfaced and the fiberglass and painted it back to the original Cygnus white. Then I put the new headliner in and got all the rivets back on and know i'm setting it and...
