    Rightio I got all that. FAQ, I'll take a look there. Sweet I think I'm getting somewhere now, all seems easy enough. Definitely no special tools but I'll give it a shot and see how it goes. Thanks heaps for that mate. Really appreciated.

    The valve clearance is the distance between the rockers and the valves? So the idea is to adjust the bolt on the pushrod to adjust the valve clearance? Can someone confirm this? And if that is the case, what is the recommended valve clearance?

    Thanks that's useful information. How can I determine if a valve is sticking? And valve adjustments, haven't got a clue... How is that done? Sorry if I seem a bit clueless, I've already learnt a huge amount about this engine, this was half the reason I bought this vehicle.

    I pulled the valve cover off, and the problem was quickly revealed. One of the push rods has been damaged and obviously that valve wasn't working. Push rods are an easy fix aren't they? Source another push rod and replace it?

    Ahh I did forget to mention that now that I look back. I have inspected the distributor cap and plug wires, and they all seem good. I also removed the spark plug from the cylinder and left it against the engine, cranked the engine and it's still making sparks like it should be. Valve cover...

    Will check compression. Spark plug was black and covered in carbon dust. That's gotta mean A/F mixture is out right?
