Selling my 92, I've owned it for 12 years and just don't have time for it lately.
The tires need replacing badly, the tread is OK but they are old and one is worn on the edge unevenly. I do drive this once a week, mostly to keep the battery up, but lately I've been staying under 30 mph while...
So, my rim is bent, and steering wheel isn't tracking straight (but truck seemed to drive the same otherwise).
I'm assuming a bent rod within the steering, won't know till warm weather.
But what about this rim, fixable? Damage seen at bottom of picture.
If not, anyone know what rims these...
So I've heard water slosh around before but always assumed it was gas in the fuel tank.
After a hard rain storm, I heard it worse than ever so I'm sure its water trapped somewhere.
I've checked my drain slits in the rocker panels and also poured water on the sunroof, which exited quickly out...
While I was rebuilding my front axle/diff last summer, The front driveshaft separated/fell apart while it sat waiting for the rebuilt diff.
Having not planned for this, I didn't mark the shaft.
So, no big deal, the 3 zerks line up just like in the FSM and your good to go....
Well, the U-Joint...
I bought a flare nut wrench to remove the rubber brake line from the metal line.
I will hit the nut with penetrating oil for a few days and I am just hoping it comes off easy. This is the last thing after my front axle/diff rebuild to do before I can drive it!
My question is (I have been...
Hi all, I am in the final stages of a complete front axle rebuild.
The inner axle seals I pulled out were Marlin Crawler seals, and as many if not all of you know they don't work well in the 80.
My drivers side axle looks fine, the passenger side axle had a small/smooth groove in it. I am...
Something has broken in my front axle, to me it seems like its on the passenger side but it is hard to be sure.
I felt it "give way" and shimmy the steering wheel on a right bend doing 40 MPH.
it drove home OK after that, but making a whining noise only when moving.
I pulled it into the...
Hey all,
I have been searching the forum but thought I'd post, as smelling fuel is not something I am OK with and want to fix this ASAP.
I have always had the pressure release issue when taking gas cap off, and lately they 80 stunk for hours after driving it.
So, I replaced the charcoal...
So, I changed my distributor cap, rotor, all wires and plugs with oem items last weekend because I had a misfire when revving in park.
Old contacts were cruddy. The misfire is 95% gone, its only SLIGHTY noticeable at idle but goes away completely with any gas (in park, can't feel it driving)...
Her guys, have the cap off my 3fe, I want to take the dist rotor off to replace it and the cap.
How does the rotor come off? I thought it just pulled out? Is there more work involved for the rotor?
Note - this is on a 3FE.
Hey guys, there is a block heater on the drivers side of my engine, under the exhaust manifold (shown in the pic below) that is leaking badly only when the engine is cold. I tightened the brass screw on it a bit which helped for about a week, but it was already pretty...
So, my crank bolt came loose a couple years ago, I tightened it... a year later replaced my water pump because it exploded (the shaft broke apart, bearing blew up, fan was detached from pump)
today the crank bolt came loose again, I think because I reused the old bolt.
The fan blade is...
Hey all, so I had never shifted into 4lo and wanted to try it just in Park, engine on, for the hell of it.
The shifter was very firm and sticky, expected for something that maybe never used.
I put it back into 4hi, or so I thought, and went into reverse. A little grinding occurred so I went...
Stupidly I did not mark one of the hoses I took off of my air intake.
I found this picture on MUD, the 2 lines I am questioning are the top 2, one being colored BLUE in this pic. Now in this picture he is saying his connects to the bottom right nipple on the engine, I didn't touch this side of...
Adjusted my valves for the first time yesterday on my 3fe, all went well.
Anyway I didn't drive it which I think is good because last night it hit me I had tightened the 4 valve cover bolts way more than they were when I took then off.
I just loosened them and finger tightened plus a...
So, i have been searching all over the net and am getting mixed answers.
First off, I drive daily about 7 miles each way, flat ground, easy accelerating.
Yesterday when pulling away in the morning, the trans reved up higher than normal before shifting out of 1st. After that it was fine, I...
Hey all, I replaced my water pump with an OEM pump, cleaned the engine off, used new gasket, and torqued the water pump down (checked and re-checked torque).
I replaced the lower water pump hose as well, the lower part of it is tapered and it took me a few heat cycles to tighten the lower hose...
I need to tighten the crank nut to the 253lbs and want to use a pulley holder, the crank is pictured below.
I am hoping I can take off 2 of those 6 nuts, use some really strong bolts in the 2 holes, and a crank pulley holder against the frame to hold the Crank while I tighten.
I would like to...
